Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins NFL Spreads & Picks
The 9-5 Dallas Cowboys visit the 4-10 Washington Redskins in one of the NFL’s best rivalry games on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Last week, Dallas proved that it can win in December with a big 24-17 victory over previously undefeated New Orleans. Meanwhile, Washington was handed its worst loss of the season by the New York Giants, a 45-12 defeat. These two division rivals last met in Week 11 when the Cowboys escaped with a 7-6 win on a late touchdown. This matchup has been neck and neck in recent years with each team splitting the last 10 meetings, but Dallas owns a commanding 58-39-2 lead in the all-time series. NFL odds makers have listed the Dallas Cowboys as a 7-point favorite with the total set at 42.

The Cowboys will be trying to do something they haven’t done since the 2004 season, and that’s sweep the Redskins. A big game from Pro Bowl outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware would go a long way helping them accomplish that feat. Ware has been a beacon of consistency with 10 or more sacks in four straight seasons. He will be up against a Washington offensive line that has allowed 38 sacks this season. If Ware is able to bring the heat, Dallas stands a good chance of forcing Redskins QB Jason Campbell into some costly turnovers.
The last time these two teams faced off Tony Romo only thew for 152 yards. Since that game, he has been terrific, throwing for an average of 302.8 yards per game and eight touchdowns with no interceptions. Romo must continue to play well for Dallas to come away with a win and cover in D.C. It is worth noting that the Redskins are just 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games when playing on Sunday following a Monday night game. If you like Dallas to pull off the season sweep and cover the number in the process, bet the Cowboys at -7 at Bodog.
The big question that must be asked heading into this one is how motivated the Redskins will be. After a five-game stretch where the Skins played well, covering the spread in each of those games, they were completely humiliated Monday night. Will they just pack it in or will they look to spoil Dallas’ postseason hopes? One thing is certain, the defense will have to play a whole lot better than it did Monday, and the offense can’t afford to turn the ball over. It is worth noting that the Cowboys are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a road favorite, and 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games in December. If you like Washington to show up and challenge the Cowboys, bet the Redskins at +7 at Bodog.
