Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs NFL Odds & Betting

Miami did its job with a win over the San Francisco 49ers last week, but so did the Jets and the Patriots to keep the log jam at the top of the AFC East in tact. With Miami playing 2-12 Kansas City and the Jets playing 3-11 Seattle this week, the Patriots could be the first team to fall out as they have a date with NFC West champion Arizona. The AFC East very well could be decided in Week17 when the Dolphins take on the Jets. Maybe we shouldn’t get too far ahead of ourselves though as odds makers haven’t exactly given Miami a convincing line. Odds makers have listed the Dolphins as just 4-point favorites with the total set at 41.
While it has been a rebuilding season for the Chiefs, it has not been one for Chiefs backers as they are 8-6 against the spread with their NFL picks on their team this season. Kansas City has beaten the NFL odds each of the past three weeks and in six of the last eight. While the Chiefs were able to play division rival San Diego to a one-point game at home last week, their home field has not been kind to them this season. The Chiefs are only 1-6 at Arrowhead Stadium where they are allowing 30.3 ppg. Teams have had their way with the Chiefs at Arrowhead, rushing for an average of 164 ypg and passing for an average of 248 ypg. The good news is that the defense was much better last week, limiting the Chargers to only 68 yards rushing and forced three turnovers. Offensively, the Chiefs haven’t been much to talk about, averaging only 21.4 ppg at home this season. But they likely won’t have to score much to beat a Dolphins team that has scored 16 or fewer points in its last three games. If you like Kansas City to cover the number for the fourth straight week, bet the Chiefs at Bookmaker and receive a 20% cash sign up bonus.
Miami knows what its like to be in the position that the Chiefs are in as they went just 1-15 last season. Bill Parcells has come right in and wasted no time making a drastic turnaround. The Phins are now 9-5 and on the verge of making the playoffs as AFC East champs. Miami has won seven of its last eight games, but it is still apparent that this team has a way to go. While the defense has been solid during this stretch, outside of giving up 48 points to the Patriots, the offense has gone numb, scoring 17 or less in four of its last five games. The Dolphins won 14-9 over the 49ers last week after holding a 14-3 halftime advantage. Miami did next to nothing in the second half and ended up being outgained for the game. Still, QB Chad Pennington’s efficiency and decision making has been a major part of the team’s success. The Jets cast off has thrown for 3,218 yards and 14 touchdowns in Miami’s run-heavy scheme. It is Miami’s commitment to the running game, which features tailbacks Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, which will likely give the Chiefs problems this week. If you think Miami stays in the AFC East title hunt with a win and covers the number in the process, bet the Dolphins at -4 at Bookmaker.
