Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants Odds
The Philadelphia Eagles (3-6) and the New York Giants (6-3) will be looking to bounce back from Week 10 defeats when they meet Sunday night at MetLife Stadium.
Odds makers believe the advantage lies with the Giants, who are currently listed as a 4.5-point favorite with the total set at 47.
The Giants saw their three game win streak come to an end last Sunday with a 27-20 loss on the road to the San Francisco 49ers.
Eli Manning connected on 26 of 40 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns but was intercepted two times. Six of his completions went to Victor Cruz, who led the team with 84 receiving yards.
Brandon Jacobs led the Giants with 55 rushing yards on 18 carries.
The Eagles’ disappointing season continued with a 21-17 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Michael Vick completed 16 of 34 passes for 128 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Four of his completions went to tight end Brent Celek, who led the team with 53 receiving yards.
LeSean McCoy led the way on the ground with 81 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
Vick is currently listed as doubtful for this week’s game after suffering two broken ribs against the Cardinals. The Eagles will either turn to Vince Young or Mike Kafka if Vick isn’t able to go. Both quarterbacks are receiving reps in practice this week.
With Vick likely to sit out Sunday, the Eagles will be even more dependent on McCoy, who leads the NFC with 906 rushing yards.
While McCoy has established himself as one of the best runners in the league, Vick’s ability to run the football is a big reason why the Eagles lead the NFL in rushing with 171.7 yards per game.
Vick is ninth in the NFC with 536 rushing yards.
The Giants have struggled to stop the run this season but should have more success run this week if Vick isn’t able to go.
New York currently ranks 20th rushing defense with 121.6 yards allowed per contest.
The Giants have become a pass-first team this season. They enter Sunday’s contest ranked fifth in the league with 285 passing yards per game.
Manning is third in the NFC with 2,688 yards through the air but could have trouble carving up a talented Philadelphia secondary that ranks 11th in the NFL with 219.6 passing yards allowed per game.
The Eagles have won six of the last seven meetings in this series but lost the season’s first meeting 29-16 at home on Sept. 25.
They are 6-1 against the spread in those seven meetings and 4-0 against the spread in their last four meetings in East Rutherford.
It is also worth noting the underdog’s success in this rivalry. In fact, the team catching points has covered the number in 12 of the last 14 matchups.
As far as the total is concerned, the under likely deserves some consideration. That’s because these two have played to the under in 11 of the last 15 meetings in East Rutherford.
