East Carolina Head Football Coach Candidates
According to Rivals.com, Bowling Green head man Dave Clawson is now the favorite to be the new head football coach of the East Carolina Pirates. Middle Tennessee State’s Rick Stockstill was considered the favorite until he decided to stay put. Athletic Director Terry Holland would like ECUs next coach to already have head coaching experience so Clawson would certainly qualify.
Here are some other options East Carolina will likely consider:
Temple’s Al Golden would be a good fit, but ECU may not be a big enough jump for the former Virginia defensive coordinator. Golden will likely wait for the bigger dogs to come calling.
Former Boston College head coach Jeff Jagodzinzki could be another target. After all, he did serve eight years as an ECU assistant. He may consider this job beneath him as well after showing interest in the NFL again.
Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster, Florida State linebacker coach Greg Hudson, Liberty head man Danny Rocco, Oklahoma offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson, Oklahoma State associate head coach Joe DeForest, Navy defensive coordinator Budd Green, and Tommy and Terry Bowden are all candidates the Pirates should consider.
It will be interesting to see if it will indeed be Clawson ending up at East Carolina.
