Florida State Wake Forest Football Picks & Predictions

Written by Jimmy Boyd on October 30, 2006

This Friday features Florida State NC State on national television and you know there is going to be a lot of football betting on the game. Of course if you are going to be putting any action on this game then it would be wise to pick up the football picks package from Jimmy Boyd. He’s been dominating the gridiron all year long and expects to do the same all week and into the weekend.

Florida State enters Thursday night’s game already behind three teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Seminoles will have to conquer the road if they want to get back in the division hunt as they will play three of their next four games away from Tallahassee.

At the beginning of the season, many experts would have counted out the Wolf Pack in this matchup, but after an upset win over then twentieth ranked Boston College on September 23rd, N.C. State might not be as bad as speculated. I’m not ready to jump on the band wagon yet.

The Wolf Pack will have their work cut out for themselves as they try to knock off their second consecutive ranked opponent. A bye week to allow them extra preparation time for the Seminoles should benefit the Pack, but I’m expecting a very hungry Florida State team who fell in a surprise to Clemson two weeks ago.

The Seminoles are also coming off a bye week. Both teams will be pumped up to play in this one and being too hyped up in the early going will likely lead to some turnovers. Florida State won’t get much accomplished if they try a ground attack. The Seminoles were one of the worst rushing teams in the nation last season and they are just ninth in the ACC this year averaging 108.8 yards per game. The ground game may have taken another hit with three banged up starting lineman who may not be ready to go Thursday night.

Florida State’s defense could be enough to shut down N.C. State however. Florida State’s defense is the third ranked defense in the conference allowing just 253.8 yards per game and it will be looking to feast on quarterback Daniel Evans who will be making just his second career start. Evans enjoyed some success in leading the Pack over Boston College by throwing a 34 yard touchdown pass in the closing seconds of the game to earn a victory, but the Seminoles see him as fresh meat. Expect numerous blitz packages out of the Seminoles in Thursday night’s matchup. FSU has one of the fastest defenses in the country and I think they’ll be able to get to Evans.

Chuck Amato, a former FSU assistant, is 3-3 against his mentor including last season’s 20-15 win at Tallahassee. We all know that N.C. State’s defense is no longer the dominant force that it was last season losing players to graduation and the NFL. Can N.C. State pull off back to back upsets? They’ll have home field advantage on their side and momentum coming off a big win. Is Jimmy Boyd thinking upset which would have us taking the points with the football odds in a close game or are we looking at a double digit blowout here? Jimmy Boyd has researched Thursday night’s big game inside and out and I’ve uncovered the winning angle which you can sign up for with our college football picks. Make sure you’re playing Thursday night’s FSU/N.C. State matchup with Jimmy Boyd.
