We scored with Detroit last night and I’ll side with the Tigers again showing excellent value in the home underdog role. Detroit is one of the best home teams in baseball at 28-13 on the year and it has had Seattle’s number. The Tigers are 8-2 at home against the M’s over the last 3 seasons and, with last night’s win, have won 4 straight at home in this series. The M’s send their ace to the hill, but the Tigers have been swinging hot bats at home, scoring 5.6 runs per game while the M’s are scoring just 4.0 runs per game on the road. The Mariners are just 11-26 in their last 37 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 while the Tigers are 8-2 in their last 10 home games vs. a right-handed starter, 10-3 in their last 13 vs. the American League West, and 5-1 in Galarraga’s last 6 starts vs. a team with a winning record. I’ll back the Tigers at home for a Unit tonight.
