NFL Picks: New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles

The New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles game should be a good barometer of who is the toast of the NFC Beast division. The Eagles are hot at the right time as they head into Sunday’s scrap against arguably the best team in football. It should be a classic divisional war of minds and bodies. The Giants are playing even better than they were playing last year at this time during their championship season. The Eagles under Andy Reid have benefited from what could be a career year from all-world RB Brian Westbrook. The NFL odds for the New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles match-up is Philadelphia -3 on the SPREAD.
While Eli Manning (89.7 passer rating) has the Giants offense generating an excellent 28.2 PPG of offense, the Eagles will be a bitter pill to take. Manning has not thrown for more than 200 yards in his last four games and the Eagles D has recorded 27.0 sacks. Last week, the blue-collar Giants offense bulldozed the Dallas Cowboys for 35 points. “We are trying to improve every week. We have a lot of drive in us,” quarterback Eli Manning said. “We know that we have a tough road ahead of us and it is matter of we have to keep playing at a high level.” Manning did lose his trusty #3 WR David Tyree for the season. Tom Coughlin had this to say about the Superbowl hero Tyree: “The medical people say he was not ready,” coach Tom Coughlin said. “He actually took it very well.” The Eagles will have to try and shore up their red-zone defense when they face the Giants 2nd ranked rushing attack. Philly has allowed just two 100-yard rushers this season and they will look to hurt 265 Lb. Giants RB Brandon Jacobs early. Manning will look to take advantage of the Eagles short DB’s with 6′5″ WR Plaxico Burress (4.50 40-speed), 6′3″ Amani Toomer and 6′6″ TE Kevin Boss.
The Eagles seem to be putting it all together at the midpoint of the season. Donovan McNabb has been playing at a Pro-bowl level and has shown his leadership. “We got things rolling at the right time,” McNabb said. “We started the season off the way that I thought that our team was able to play throughout the year. We kind of hit a wall a little bit, we lost games that we should have won. What you are seeing now is a team that has learned from those mistakes and being able to capitalize on those opportunities in the up and coming weeks.” On the ground Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (4.35 40-speed) will be met by a gang tackling N.Y defense led by MLB Antonio Pierce (39 TKL 2.0 sacks). The versatile Westbrook will be counted to take the heat off McNabb (92.0 passer rating) who was sacked freely against the Giants last season. One of the biggest challenges for the Eagles offensive line will be containing Giants DE Justin Tuck who is fired up to be playing in Philadelphia. “Philly is my favorite road stadium because the fans absolutely hate everybody that moves in an opponent’s jersey,” Tuck said. “I kind of like being hated.” Tuck (500+ Bench-Press) will go after an Eagles O-line that has been very good in pass protection allowing only 13 sacks in 297 pass attempts. The Eagles have a healthy group of talented wideouts to attack N.Y with this week but Eagles coach Andy Reid is still concerned. “I think they are as good as they’ve ever been,” said coach Andy Reid, whose Eagles are 0-2 in division games. “They are playing very well as a team both offensively and defensively. You would think that their defense lost a little bit with the retirement of Michael (Strahan) and the injuries, primarily Osi (Umenyiora), but I don’t see that. I see other guys have stepped up.”
If you plan on doing your NFL betting on the OVER\UNDER for the New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles match-up it is at 43.0 points.
This is the NFL week 10 game of the week and it will be a physical game. Eli Manning is struggling of late but his defense has been lights out. McNabb has to prove that he can avoid a rabid N.Y pas-rush that has exposed his agility limitations. If you want to make your NFL picks on the straight up winner of this game then the MONEYLINE for the New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles match-up is Philly -140 to -155.
