Green Bay Packers at Cleveland Browns NFL Betting Odds & Picks
The 3-2 Green Bay Packers meet the 1-5 Cleveland Browns this Sunday at Cleveland Stadium in an NFC North versus AFC North showdown. Last week, the Packers rolled 26-0 against the Lions while the Browns were torched by Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers 27-14. The last time these teams faced off Brett Favre was still a Packer and on that day in 2005, Favre and the Packers fell 26-24 to the Browns behind a big day from Trent Dilfer. These teams have split each of the last four games but Green Bay owns a 10-7 lead in the all-time series. NFL lines makers have listed the Green Bay Packagers as a 7-point favorite with the total set at 41.5.

Aaron Rodgers has been Mr. October for the Packers, posting a 110.3 passer rating in five career October starts. He is having a strong season, throwing for 1,456 yards and eight touchdowns, but he could be downright scary if his line would protect him better. The Packers have allowed a league-high 25 sacks in one fewer game than many teams have played. Green Bay has absolutely no chance to make the playoffs without a healthy Rodgers so it is imperative that the offensive line start blocking better to keep him from sustaining a costly injury. The boys up front figure to be challenged again this week against a Browns team that has tallied five sacks in their last two games. It is worth noting that the Packers are a terrific 15-6-1 against the spread in their last 22 road games. If you like Green Bay to keep rolling this week, bet the Packers at -7 at BetUS.
With Braylon Edwards now catching passes from Mark Sanchez in New York, the Browns lost a big part of their offensive weaponry. That means that Mohamed Massaquoi and Josh Cribbs will have to be counted on even more to make plays. Over the last two weeks, the Browns have only completed 11 passes for 145 yards and Massaquoi has been on the receiving end of six of those passes for 99 yards. He faces a stiff task this week against Al Harris and Charles Woodson.
The Packers have struggled to adjust to their 3-4 scheme and they figure to face more than a few wrinkles from the Browns this week. Besides Josh Cribbs’ amazing kick return ability, he is being utilized as a Wildcat back, a running back, and a wide receiver. He is Cleveland’s top playmaker and I appreciate their effort to get the ball in his hands in a variety of ways.
While running back Jamal Lewis is not the workhorse he once was, it may be a good idea to pound him this week when you consider the state of the passing attack and the fact that his teams are 6-0 when he gets 25 or more carries. It is worth noting that the Browns are 7-1-1 against the spread in their last nine games as an underdog of 3.5-10.0 points. If you like Cleveland to keep this one within the number, bet the Browns at +7 at BetUS.
