Hatton Castillo Odds

Written by Jimmy Boyd

Intense boxing action will pick up once again on June 23rd and we will review the Hatton Castillo odds so you have the best chance of getting the most value out of your boxing betting on the fight. Ricky Hatton is an English boxer who is 28 years young and has won two light welterweight titles, but relinquished both of the belts he held. Even thought he is not as big of a name as some of the top American fighters he currently stands undefeated with a record of 42 wins and 0 losses with 30 knockouts. He moved up a weight class to welterweight but is moving back down and probably to stay after learning his punches are not as heavy in the upper weight classes. In his first fight down he fought Juan Urango, winning a twelve round decision that allowed him to re-capture the IBF and IBO Light Heavyweight titles. He won all but one round on all three judges’ scorecards. Castillo was also on the undercard of that fight and his victory set up this title fight, however Hatton was forced to give up his IBF title in order to get this match.

Jose Luis Castillo is Mexican fighter who has earned the nickname El Temible. As a professional, Castillo is 54-7-1 with 47 knockouts, but is getting up there in age a little bit at 33. Castillo is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, but has lost two very close decisions and the first one was very, very controversial to Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Castillo is maybe best known for a couple of grueling fights against Diego Corrales but both of them were marred with controversy. The first fight was tough as both fighters gave each other a significant amount of punishment until Castillo finally knocked down Corrales twice in the tenth round. Experts and fans debated that Corrales was given too much time to recover from the knock down during the point deduction. Once Corrales got up he TKO’d Castillo and this fight was named the 2005 fight of the year by Ring Magazine. The rematch took place on October 8, 2005, but Castillo showed up 3.5 pounds overweight so it wasn’t a title fight. Castill knocked Corrales out in the fourth round with a left hook, but has been heavily criticized for his weight.

This is going to be a decent fight and the odds makers are seeing both fights as fairly evenly matched. If you think you can see an edge then place your wagers today at one of these leading online sportsbooks.
