Jacksonville finished the regular season at 11-5 overall and 5-3 on the road, and then went into Pittsburgh in round one to beat the Steelers by two points. David Garrard wasn’t at his best in that playoff game as he went just 9-for-21 for 140 yards, but he had two picks to go with his sole touchdown pass. Jacksonville also had trouble running the ball with Fred Taylor getting 16 carries for 48 yards and a score and Maurice Jones-Drew getting 8 carries for 29 yards and a score. The biggest run of the game came on that 4th down conversion by Garrard when he picked up 32 to set the Jags up for their game winning field goal. As far as receivers go, only Jones-Drew’s 43 yard touchdown catch stood out as nobody managed more than two receptions.

Defensively the team had to be worried about giving up 340 yards to the Steelers, including 297 through the air. With the team heading to New England this week to take on Tom Brady, you would have liked to seen the Jags do a better job at stopping the pass since that is what they are going to get a heavy dose of this week.

Jacksonville definitely doesn’t have the easiest path to the Super Bowl, but if they get there then nobody will be able to say they didn’t earn it. Beating Pittsburgh on the road was tough enough, but now the Jags are a double digit underdog against the Pats, and even if they win this game they are going to be heavy underdogs to either the San Diego Chargers or the Indianapolis Colts. It doesn’t seem to us like we would be getting enough value to place a wager on Jacksonville, but if you feel different here is the value that you can get.
