Jacksonville Jaguars at Cincinnati Bengals NFL Picks & Lines

Fading the Cincinnati Bengals has been a great NFL betting play this season as Cincy is 0-8 on the season straight up and only 2-6 against the spread. Odds makers don’t anticipate Cincy breaking through with a win this week either, listing the Bengals as 7.5-point underdogs with the total set at 39.5.
Jacksonville, who has been a disappointment thus far, has to be looking forward to this stretch where it plays back-to-back games against the NFL’s two winless teams. The team is hoping that those two stops will result in a pair of wins to get the season back on track for the 3-4 Jags. It will likely not be easy though as both the Bengals and the Lions will be pulling out all the stops to get that first win of the season and the Jags will have to get the job done on the road against each team.
The Jags have had lots of success against Cincy though, having won each of the past four meetings.
After winning 11 games and reaching the playoffs, the Jags came into the 2008 season with high hopes. The team has not lived up to the hype thus far as struggles to finish out games has left them below the .500 mark through eight weeks. The Jags enter this week’s contests four games behind the Tennessee Titans in the AFC South race.
All of Jacksonville’s games have been decided by seven points or less and that trend continued last weekend when it fell to Cleveland 23-17 at home.
QB David Garrard has a nice day but it was not enough to get the Jags past the Browns. He was 25 of 42 for 283 yards and two touchdowns. A bobbled and then dropped pass by receiver Matt Jones in the end zone with 16 seconds remaining kept the Jags from a chance to win.
Other than the dropped pass, Jones had one of his best games as a pro with eight grabs for 117 yards and a touchdown. He will likely not be on the field this Sunday however as he is awaiting the NFL’s decision on his appeal of a three-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
The loss to Cleveland did not sit well with head coach Jack Del Rio who reportedly ripped into his team following the game.
It should all get better for Jacksonville this week as it plays a team it has beaten four straight times and nine of its last 10. If you think Jacksonville will win this game by at least 8 points, bet the Jaguars at BetUS and receive up to a 50% sign up bonus.
Cincy is off to its fourth 0-8 start since the 1991 season and is now just two losses away of the franchise’s worst start since 1993. It seems crazy to think that no one looked forward to playing a high-powered Bengals team just a few seasons ago and now everyone wants to schedule them.
It has been flat out embarrassing for the Bengals in their last two defeats, getting pummeled 38-10 by Pittsburgh and then 35-6 by Houston. The team has failed to show up in the second half in either of those contests getting outscored 49-3.
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was 20 of 32 for only 155 yards and threw two interceptions. Fitzpatrick continues to fill in for Carson Palmer who is out indefinitely with an elbow injury.
As turnovers have been an issue for Fitzpatrick, the offense has looked pretty vanilla and the defense is not making his job any easier. The Bengals defense is allowing more than 27 points per game.
This defense will face a tall task in stopping Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew. He rushed for just 29 yards last week and will most definitely be out to thrash a Bengals defense which hasn’t been able to stop anybody.
While it does not look good for Cincy this season, the Bengals do have this game at home and they have been embarrassed each of the past two weeks. If that doesn’t get them fired up to play then nothing will. Bet the Bengals at +7.5 to cover the spread at BetUS.
