A big fight night is coming up on June 9th and if you
want to get some boxing betting then take a look at
these Judah Cotto odds from a couple of leading
online sportsbooks.
Zab "The Jab Super" Judah is the underdog coming in this
fight even though he is a former champion at junior
welterweight and former undisputed champion in the
welterweight division. This guy is one of the
fastest in boxing with both his hands and his feet, but
has a problem of being a showboater who can get caught
up in putting on a show and losing his concentration.
Judah was suspended for the first time back in November
of 2001 when he lost to Kostya Tszyu, giving up his
junior welterweight title. Judah thought the fight
was stopped prematurely and pushed his gloved-fist into
the throat of the ref before returning to his corner and
throwing his ring stool at him. He came back and
was successful once again, until when he was losing in
the 10th round to Floyd Mayweather, he gave him a low
blow and a punch to the back of Mayweather's head.
A riot then broke out and while Mayweather stood in the
corner, Judah got invovled in the ensuing melee and as a
result was suspended once again. This will be only
the second fight since his suspension and in the fight
fight against Ruben Galvan looked pretty convincing that
he is on a mission.
Miguel Angel Cotto comes into this match undefeated at
29-0 with 24 knockout victories. He is a favorite
over Judah, mostly because of his track record and also
because he has been fighting consistently while Judah
was suspended. Cotto has beaten a lot of big names
in his division and has been ranked no. 1 in the
division since September of 2003 when he knocked out
Demetrio Ceballos in the seventh round. Cotto had
a great 2004 when he beat Sammy Sosa's cousing,
Victoriano Sosa by knockout in the fourth and Lovemore
Ndou in a twelve round unanimous decision. He has
since moved up to the Welterweight division in order to
find some stiffer competition and to prove himself even
more. His first fight took place in December when
he took the WBA title from Carlos Quintana in a corner
stoppage before the sixth round. He has had one
title defense and scored a technical knockout in the
eleventh over Oktay Urkal on March 4th. If Cotto
can get through Judah then there is talk about him
facing Ricky Hatton, Floyd Mayweather Jr, or Kermit
Cintron later this year.
