Kansas Improves Nation’s Longest Home Winning Streak
With Monday’s 84-65 win over Missouri, the Kansas Jayhawks’ men’s basketball team won for the 54th straight time at home to extend the longest active streak in the country. Kansas is now just one win shy of tying the second-longest home winning streak in school history.
Kansas dominated the Tigers despite turning the ball over 23 times and forcing Mizzou into just four turnovers, proving that defense is more than just forcing turnovers. The Jayhawks made the Tigers a jump shooting team, and as a result, Mizzou made only 27.9 percent of its shot attempts on the night (19 of 68). But it takes superior interior play to make teams satisfied with settling for jumpers, and I guess you could call Kansas’ nine blocked shots superior. The Jayhawks also outrebounded Mizzou 53-28.

While head coach Bill Self would obviously like to see his team take a little bit better care of the basketball, he has to be pleased with the performance. The Jayhawks have great balance on the offensive end, led by Aldrich and Sherron Collins, and they really defend well. Both of these things are intangibles that every team needs to make a run in the NCAA tournament.
Kansas is now 19-1 on the season, including 5-0 in Big 12 Conference play.
