LA Lakers at Orlando Magic NBA Finals Game 4 Odds

Written by Jimmy Boyd

lakers-magic-game-4-preview-061109The Orlando Magic will be trying to carry the momentum of their Game 3 win into tonight’s Game 4 of the NBA Finals.  With the 108-104 victory, Orlando moved the series to 2-1 and have a chance to even up the series tonight at Amway Arena.  Meanwhile, the Lakers look to take another step in the direction of their franchise’s 15th NBA Championship.  The NBA odds for Thursday’s Finals game have the Magic -2 over the Lakers, with the over/under set for 201 points.

It’s hard to imagine the Magic playing much better than they did in Game 3, where they shot an NBA Finals record 75% from the floor in the first half, and an NBA Finals record 62.5% from the field for the game.  Dwight Howard had his best game of the Finals in Game 3, racking up 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Rashard Lewis continued his excellent plays, also chipping in for 21.  The scary part for Orlando is that they still only won the game by 4 points, but the important point in that they did walk away victorious, giving them a boost of confidence that they desperately needed.

The Lakers were hot and cold for most of the game, including Kobe Bryant.  Bryant opened up with 17 points in the final five-plus minutes of the first quarter, then shooting sporadically, finishing with 31 points and dishing out 8 assists.  Pau Gasol continued his strong supporting role, scoring 23 points, while Trevor Ariza contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Kobe looked tired in the second half, shooting just 3 for 10 from the field, missing four free throws, three three-point attempts, and committing a key turnover with about 30 seconds left.  The good news for the Lakers is that they’ve been incredible this season in the playoffs after a loss, where they are 6-0 coming into tonight’s game.

This isn’t a must-win situation for either team, but the Magic could “use” the victory more than the Lakers, as falling behind 3-1 in the Finals is tantamount to the kiss-of-death.  Whatever the outcome of tonight’s game, the series will continue with a pivotal Game 5 in Orlando this coming Sunday.
