Louisiana Tech at Boise State Week 6 College Football Point Spread

The Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech travel to Idaho to take on the 19th ranked Boise State Broncos on Wednesday October 1st on ESPN. The Broncos hope to avoid any letdowns as they open WAC play fresh off an upset of Oregon and odds makers don’t foresee any as they have listed Boise State as 22-point favorites.
This game marks the first time in six years that the Broncos will open up conference play without the title of defending champs. Last week’s upset win over Oregon suggests that this Boise State team is hungry for another league title and even more. However, it is evident that the Broncos have many areas in need of improvement. The Broncos have been held scoreless in four of their last six quarters.
Boise State is 3-0 on the season, routing Idaho State 49-7, before showing some offensive incosistency in wins over Bowling Green and Oregon.
The Broncos have shown balance on offense that few other WAC teams have and possess the discipline to show a variety of looks. They ran a no-huddle scheme in their first two games and gave Oregon the traditional look with lots of shifts and motion.
While the offense is yet to look like a well-oiled machine, the defense has been steady. Even though Oregon was able to score some points, the Broncos have to field good about holding the Ducks to a season low in yards and forcing four turnovers.
QB Kellen Moore had a huge game against Oregon, throwing for 386 yards and three touchdowns. The performance earned him the Walter Camp Foundation national offensive player of the week honors.
WR Jeremy Childs has quickly emerged as Boise State’s defense-stretcher. He made a pair of nice grabs on deep balls against Oregon and has 181 receiving yards on the season. If you like the Broncos to cover the 22-point spread, bet Boise State at Bookmaker and receive up to a 20% cash signup bonus.
Louisiana Tech is 2-1 on the young season and will be hoping to catch the Broncos overlooking them on Wednesday night, just as USC overlooked Oregon State last week.
The Bulldogs opened the year with an impressive win over the SEC’s Mississippi State before getting shutout at Kansas. They then took it to Southeastern Louisiana before getting a bye week to prepare for the Broncos. Hopefully the extra time will pay off.
QB Taylor Bennett was just 26-for-73 in the first two game of the season before bouncing back with a solid performance against Southeastern Louisiana. He’ll have to prove he can be more effective against a quality opponent than he has been in the early going if the Bulldogs have any upset hopes.
If Boise State’s defense does have a glaring weakness, it is in defending the pass. That figures to be the mode of offense that the Bulldogs will use to move the football. WR/kick returner Philip Livas is becoming one of the more exciting players anywhere, running up 173 yards on 11 pass receptions, 116 on three kick returns, 115 on six carries and 85 on a pair of punt returns. He will also be an instrumental player in this matchup.
Boise State will also likely try to pass Tech to death as the Bulldogs come into this game ranked 119th against the pass (that’s dead last). If you think the Bulldogs have what it takes to keep this one within the number, bet Louisiana Tech at +22 at Bookemaker.
