Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills NFL Betting Odds & Predictions
The 5-5 Miami Dolphins look to get over the hump when they take on the 3-7 Buffalo Bills this Sunday in a Week 12 AFC East Division showdown. Last week, the Dolphins knocked off the Panthers 24-17 in the NFL’s Thursday night contest while the Bills were edged out 18-15 by Jacksonville. These two teams last met back in Week 4 and that contest is one the Bills would like to forget as they were crushed 38-10. That win was the third straight for Miami in the series and it owns a 52-37-1 lead all-time. NFL odds makers have listed the Miami Dolphins as a 3-point favorite with the total set at 40.

Since Tony Sparano was brought on board as head coach, the Dolphins have been no push over on the road. In fact, Miami is 4-1 on the road against AFC East competition under Sparano. A big reason for Miami’s road success is its strong running attack which averages 156 yards per game on 4.7 yards per rush this season. The Dolphins should be able to run the football this week against a Buffalo defense allowing 166 yards per game on the ground on 4.9 yards per tote. But Buffalo was able to hold Maurice Jones-Drew and Jacksonville to just 102 yards rushing on 3.0 yards per carry last week. If Buffalo can slow down Miami’s running attack, Chris Henne will have to be up to the challenge. When he does air it out, his ball security will be a crucial factor as Buffalo leads the AFC with 17 interceptions.
The Buffalo offense has struggled all season and the Dolphins can make those struggles continue if Joey Porter and Jason Taylor can bring the heat. Consider that Jason Taylor has more sacks against the Bills (19.5) than he does against any other team. It is worth noting that the Dolphins are a perfect 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games versus the AFC East. If you like this trend to continue, bet the Dolphins at -3 at Bodog.
Buffalo has had Miami’s number in the month of November, having won four of the last five November contests. It should have an advantage playing at home in a cold climate Sunday against a Dolphins team used to the Miami heat.
We know the Bills will have to slow down Miami’s running game or they won’t have a chance unless they can come up with some turnovers. But besides that, the offense is going to have to show some life. That means Buffalo needs to get Terrell Owens involved early. It’s been a tough season for Owens, but he has stuck with it and has come up big with 282 yards receiving and a touchdown the past two weeks. He should have the advantage against a young Miami defensive backfield. It is worth noting that the Bills are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a home underdog of 3.0 points or less. If you like Buffalo to pull off the small upset at home Sunday, bet the Bills at +3 at Bodog.
