Miami at Florida State Betting Line

The Miami Hurricanes are set to face the Florida State Seminoles on the road in what is deemed to be a classic matchup between two storied programs. Although neither team has any shot at the ACC Championship game, both teams have bounced back to play better this recent games. The Seminoles played a dominant game against Boston College for a 38-7 win and their 4th consecutive overall. Meanwhile the Hurricane blew by Duke for a 49-14 win and their 3rd win in 4 games. The road team has won each of their last five meetings in this series including a 45-17 Florida State victory against Miami last year.

According to the week 11 college football lines, oddsmakers currently have Florida State favored by 9-points over Miami with the total set at 50 points.

MIAMI

Coming in to this game, Miami will surely be motivated to beat the Seminoles after the embarrassing loss they had against the Seminoles last year. Miami came toe to toe with Virginia Tech in a 38-35 thriller a few weeks back so they have to feel confident that they can beat Florida State this time around. The Miami Hurricanes have a record of 5-4 and 3-3 in its conference. Although their record don’t show it, this team has been playing extremely well the past few weeks.

The Hurricanes played close to perfection in their win over the Blue Devils last week. Lamar Miller and Mike James combined for 205 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, while Jacory Harris completed 14 of 20 for 202 yards and three touchdowns. It was the type of offensive performance that many knew the team was capable of doing.

FLORIDA STATE

The Seminoles have looked like an elite team these past 4 games. They have outscored each of their opponents by at least 25 points and are excelling on both sides of the ball. However, those four wins came against struggling teams in Duke, Maryland, NC State, and Boston College, four teams who combined to win five conference games. Therefore the team’s swagger, although warranted, can be a bit misleading.

The Seminoles didn’t need much effort on the offensive end as they put up five offensive touchdowns in just 307 yards, as Boston College struggled to move the ball and turned it over four times. E.J. Manuel was extremely efficient, completing 12 of 16 for 180 yards and a touchdown. Manuel also added another 37 yards and a score on the ground.

If it wasn’t for their own turnovers and great field position, Florida State could have easily put up close to 500 yards in this game and it wouldn’t have been a surprise considering Florida State had averaged 469 yards over their previous three games.

The Hurricanes will have a tougher challenge defensively than what they face this past month, but don’t be surprised if they still wind up having a good offensive game. The defense of Miami has been middling at best as they allow 387.3 yards/game. Miami is also struggling against the run as they are allowing 179 yards/game. When the Seminoles can get the ground game going they are a very difficult team to defend, as they feature the 19th best passing attack in the country with 292.3 yards/game.
