College Football Odds: Missouri v. Oklahoma

Written by Jimmy Boyd on December 17, 2007

The Big 12 Championship will take place at the Alamodome on December 1st at 8 PM and we are going to break down the Missouri Oklahoma betting odds for our readers. This game has serious national title implications for the Tigers since they are currently ranked no. 1 in the BCS standings after knocking off the Kansas Jayhawks in the Border War a week ago. Oklahoma lost to Texas Tech two weeks ago which pretty much put an end to their title hopes, but by winning this game they will still make a major BCS bowl. It is believed that Kansas needs Missouri to win in order for the team and the Big 12 to get the at-large bid available.

Missouri enters this conference championship game with an 11-1 record straight up (SU) and a 9-2 mark against the spread (ATS). They have gone over the posted total in eight of their 11 matchups by scoring 41.9 points per game (ppg) and allowing 23.4 ppg. That is good for an average margin of victory of 18.5 points so you can see why this team is rated so high. Chase Daniel leads the offense and has helped the Tigers gain 336.8 yards per game (ypg) via the passing game. The rushing attack isn’t exactly slouching either as they have posted an average of 170.5 ypg on the ground. Defensively the team is not quite as potent, allowing 265.8 ypg passing and 114.9 ypg rushing. Missouri has not lost since the first matchup with the Sooners and they have not beaten Oklahoma in their last 5 matchups. The over has been a hot bet for the Tigers as well, going 4-1 in their last 5 games. You can bet on Missouri using your credit card at +3 at Sportsbook.com.

Oklahoma has been found near the top of the college ranks all season long, but a couple of tough losses to Colorado and Texas Tech have them hoping just to make a January bowl game. The Sooners come into this matchup at 10-2 SU and 6-6 ATS, with the over/under breaking even at the 6-6 mark. The offense is potent and has averaged 43.8 ppg on the season, but the defense has been just as tough allowing only 18.3 ppg for a staggering 25.6 ppg margin of victory. Oklahoma is balanced in averaging 263.7 ypg passing to go along with the 193.9 ypg they get on the ground. Defensively their pass defense doesn’t have as good of numbers at 233.2 ypg as the run defense which has halted the opposition to only 91.4 ypg rushing. The Sooners are struggling against the number though, failing to cover in all but two of their last eight games, but the team has a ten point win at home over Missouri earlier in the year. If you want to bet on Oklahoma take the -3 at Sportsbook.com and you can bet the game using your credit card.
