NBA Playoff Odds: Boston Celtics vs. Chicago Bulls Game 6

Written by Jimmy Boyd

celtics-bulls-game-6-42909What a series! If you thought you might see a letdown from Chicago after an incredible double overtime win in Game 4, you thought wrong. The Bulls were neck and neck with the defending NBA Finals champs in the Garden again, and it looked like they might take control of the series when Ben Gordon hit yet another big shot from the wing in the closing seconds. But Paul Pierce answered right back with a sweet jumper to send the game into overtime where the Celtics would go on to win. Now the series shifts back to Chicago and NBA odds makers are anticipating a Game 7 as they have listed the Chicago Bulls as 3-point favorites with the total set at 196.

For Chicago to win this series, it is going to have to find a way to slow down Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. We are in the midst of witnessing one of the best playoff series performances in history as Rondo is averaging a triple double with 24.2 points, 10.2 assists, and 10.2 rebounds per game. So far Chicago has had no answer for Rondo, who has been sensational in the open floor and has gotten to the basket at will. Chicago also has to be concerned that Paul Pierce is starting to heat it up. Pierce was magnificent down the stretch and in overtime in Game 5. It is apparent that neither John Salmons or Kirk Hinrich can defend the reigning Finals MVP. Pierce is averaging 24 points and six rebounds in the series. If you think Boston can close out the series on the road, bet the Celtics at +3 at BetUS and receive up to 145 percent in sign up bonuses.

Chicago is oh so close to having shocked the defending champs, but instead finds itself down three-games-to-two. Chicago has played fearless in this series, but it’s inexperience has showed up down the stretch in these close games, especially in rookie point guard Derrick Rose who had several costly turnovers down the stretch in Game 5. In fact, Rose is averaging over five turnovers per game in this series. If he cuts that number in half, the Bulls might be ready to close the Celtics out on Thursday night. But Rose has done plenty of good things too, and he needs to continue to put pressure on the Celtics defense with his penetration. Without Kevin Garnett and Leon Powe, Boston is thin on the front line, and Rose is a guy with the ability to get the other Boston bigs in foul trouble when he attacks the basket. I know Ben Gordon is banged up, but Chicago cannot live without his offense. He has been deadly in the second half in this series as the Celtics have had no answer. Gordon is averaging 25 points per game in this series. The last time this series shifted from Boston to Chicago, the Bulls were not ready. I expect they’ll do a better job of showing up on their home floor this time around. If you like Chicago to force a Game 7, bet the Bulls at -3 at BetUS.
