NBA Playoff Odds: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks Game 4
The Cleveland Cavaliers look to remain unbeaten, both straight up and against the spread, in the 2009 NBA Playoffs when they go for the sweep in Atlanta tonight. The Hawks hanged tough before their wheels fell off in the second half of Game 3 and the Cavs were able to pull away with a 15-point victory. You can catch Game 4 on Monday, May 11th at 7:00 pm EST on TNT. NBA odds makers aren’t expecting much fight from Atlanta tonight, listing the Hawks as a 10-point underdog with the total set at 183.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been beyond dominant in the 2009 NBA Playoffs, winning all seven of their games by double digits to cover the spread in each game. In fact, the Cavs have now covered the spread in 11 straight games dating back to the regular season. The odds makers know the public will be on Cleveland, and it also is well aware of how many consecutive times the public has cashed in against them. One would think that the books have purposely overvalued the Cavs tonight to give the Hawks the edge against the number, but then again, haven’t they been doing this throughout the playoffs to no avail? LeBron and the Cavs showed a killer instinct in their first round series against the Pistons, winning Game 4 in Detroit by 21 points as an 8.5-point favorite. The Cavs have not yet endured a letdown in these playoffs following blowout after blowout so it’s hard to expect them to undergo one tonight. If you like Cleveland to win and cover the spread for the eighth straight time in the playoffs, bet the Cavaliers at -10 at BetUS and receive up to 145 percent in sign up bonuses.
After a terrible Game 2 performance in Cleveland, the Hawks showed heart in Game 3. They trailed by just one point at the half and were still within striking distance heading into the fourth quarter. While the Cavs would end up pulling away, there was still some good news for the Hawks as star guard Joe Johnson finally showed up with a 21-point performance. No one likes to be swept so I expect the Hawks to play with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm on their home floor tonight. Plus, they will have the advantage of playing freely with a nothing to lose attitude. That should bode well for them as they have played very tight throughout this series. It is a given that the Cavs will make a run on them at some point in this game, and it will be up to Atlanta to maintain their composure at that time. Zaza Pachulia completely lost his when he was fouled going to the basket in Game 3. He was ejected from the game and that seemed to be a big turning point as the momentum shifted completely in Cleveland’s favor. If you think Atlanta has enough pride and composure to stick with the Cavs at home tonight, bet the Hawks at +10 at BetUS.
