winners in the big dance than you ever have before. Just follow these tricks of
the trade and watch your winning percentage increase instantly. For the most
March Madness winners each and every year, there is no better choice than Jimmy
Boyd of Locksmith Sports.
Be Selective
Some guys like to go right down the line and lay down on every single game. As
much fun as that sounds, it’s just not a solid betting strategy. Not every game
will show value and some games will show more value than others. That’s why we
need to pass on some, wager more on some, and wager less on others. Realize that
the tourney is a marathon and not a sprint. We’ll look to make a little on every
round and at the end, we’ll have a nice little bankroll to show for it.
Leave Your Biases at the Door
If you have trouble betting against your favorite team, you may want to forget
about wagering on that team all together. Holding biases in tournament time can
get you in a world of trouble. Each game should be looked at objectively as
winning money is our goal. If you must lay a few bucks on your team of choice,
go ahead, but don’t let that bias really hurt your pocketbook. Some people do
the same thing with betting against teams that they hate.
Do the Dogs
Time after time, oddsmakers will overvalue major conference teams against the
minor conference and the mid-majors. Really, oddsmakers haven’t seen these types
of matchups since early in the season and that’s why they have such trouble
gauging the improvements of each team. If you find some dogs that can really
shoot it from behind the 3-point line, you’ll have your bookmaker’s head in the
Dance. It’s because of that line that we have Cinderella stories.
When You’re Hot, You’re Hot
Teams which come into the tournament on nice runs often keep it going in the
postseason. These teams are excellent dogs if you find them in that position. By
the same token, if a team has limped its way in, they might be primed for an
early departure. We saw this with Duke last year.
Defense wins Championships
It also covers the spread. Back to my underdog theory. I’ve had a lot of success
picking dogs that can really play defense. Good defensive teams are the best
suited to keeping the score within the number. Also, favorites which can really
“D” up are great futures picks to win it all. I don’t normally play a lot of
totals, but oddsmakers tend to set lines more based off of how many points teams
score than how many they allow. The solid defensive squad could give us some
Unders opportunities as well.
Stick to it
One of the most important things you can do when betting the NCAA tournament is
stick to your money management system. If you get down, don’t double your wagers
to try to get it all back right away. You could end up in a whole lot more
trouble. Use the same standardized system you’ve been using all season long and
ride it out. This will keep you from those huge losing days and give you a
better chance to win over the course of the tourney. If you don’t have a system,
you need to look into developing one or signing up with a handicapper who
advises on money management systems. Jimmy is always willing to help in this
regard.
I hope you’ll find these NCAA tournament betting tips helpful and lucrative this
season.
