New York Giants at New Orleans Saints NFL Week 6 Picks & Betting Odds
The 5-0 New York Giants take on the 4-0 New Orleans Saints this Sunday at the Superdome in a battle for NFC Supremacy. Last week, the Giants won in style with a 44-7 blowout over the Raiders while the Saints were using their bye week to prepare for New York. These teams have not met since Week 16 of the 2006 season when the Saints clobbered the G-men 30-7. The Giants have won four of the last six meetings to take a 14-10 lead in the all-time series. NFL lines makers are giving the edge to New Orleans in this one, listing the Saints as 3-point favorites with the total set at 47.5.

Eli Manning grew up in New Orleans and he would like nothing more than to solidify his team as the best in the NFC with a win in his homecoming. The Giants should have an excellent chance playing in the Superdome as Manning is 6-1 as a starter when playing indoors. One thing to keep an eye on is Manning’s health. Manning is suffering from a painful foot injury. He played well against the Raiders last week but he played for less than a half. The Giants are going to need him to go the distance and to play well as he faces off against an explosive Saints offense.
The Defensive side of the football is going to have to hold up on its end of the bargain as well. Without a consistent pass rush, Drew Brees will be able to pick the Giants apart all afternoon. New York has one of the best pass rushes in all of football so if any team can slow down the Saints’ offensive attack, it’s the Giants. It is worth noting that the Giants are an incredible 8-1-1 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road underdog of 3.0 points or less. If you like New York to continue its domination on the road, bet the Giants at +3 at Sportsbook.com.
The Saints entered their bye week leading the NFL with a 36 points per game scoring average. Drew Brees’ right are is a big reason for that. Brees has thrown for 1031 yards and nine scores in just four games this season and leads the NFL with 14,941 passing yards since joining the Saints in 2006. The question to ask this week is if the bye week will slow New Orleans momentum or if it will make the Saints sharper.
The good news for New Orleans this season is that it has been able to run the football effectively with Mike Bell and Pierre Thomas. But the Saints could struggle to get much going between the tacklers against New York’s second ranked defense. That means that Reggie Bush could be the key to a Saints victory. Bush is a game-breaker, much like Dallas’ Felix Jones, and Jones had success against the Giants, rushing for 96 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries. Don’t be surprised if the Saints look for ways to get Bush the ball in space to get him loose on the outside. It is worth noting that the Saints are 9-1-1 against the number in their last 11 games overall and 5-0 against the spread in their last five games as a home favorite. If you think New Orleans has what it takes to stay unbeaten, bet the Saints at -3 at Sportsbook.com.
