NFL Betting Guide

This NFL betting guide from Jimmy Boyd of Locksmith Sports is geared towards making sure you get off to the right kind of start this year.  If you are new to NFL betting or have been at it for years then there is plenty of information in this article that can make sure you make the most money this fall.  NFL gambling is a big reason that the sport is so popular, and you will be able to find the latest NFL odds on this site, in newspapers, and even on different television programs.  Since there are only 16 games being played each week on either Sunday or Monday, it’s a lot easier for the general public to follow than baseball or basketball, which has a constant flow of games coming in every day of the season.

The fact that the even the general public can follow the teams accurately leads to unique challenges with football betting.  The teams are required to release news on player injuries, giving more valuable information to the public and thus creating even sharper lines.  If you don’t follow our three general rules to betting on the NFL, then you might run into problems.

1.  What happened last week

The public tends to put a little too much emphasis on what happened last week.  For the professional football players, momentum does not mean near as much as it does in college football.  If a team gets blown out one week, don’t fade them the next as it will have little to no effect on their upcoming performance.  Also take a look at what NFL bye weeks mean.

2.  Line shopping

This is important in every sport out there, but in the NFL it may be more than any other sport that you get the best NFL betting lines.  There are a large number of NFL games that are decided by a field goal or less and thus getting a 1/2 point to a full point difference in the 2.5 to 3.5 range means a lot of wins and losses go your way.

3.  Injuries

Don’t put too much stock into injuries unless it’s the quarterback.  Each team has depth, and the players playing at this peak level tend to be very similar top to bottom.  The lines tend to jump more than they should when one team has some key injuries at positions other than quarterback.  Don’t fall for that trap.

Now another thing you should now about NFL handicapping is that it is tough to beat 60% winners on a yearly basis.  Only a few of the top NFL handicappers can achieve this feat, and most of them can be found right here at Locksmith Sports.  You aren’t going to want to take a lot of chances with a sport that is so tough to beat.  Find a professional that you like and trust, and then use his knowledge and work to make you more money this season.  Our guys pick their spots and know when to hold back, so you won’t see a play out on every single Monday Night football game.  Value is the key, and our guys can find it.
