Odds
Odds means the chance that something is going to happen. Now when the books put out the lines they are basically trying to show the likelihood of an event happening. They want to set the point spread or money line perfectly so there is an even amount of money being bet on both sides of the game.
The crew here at Locksmith Sports is going to help you beat the odds across all sports. During the fall it’s the NFL odds and college football odds that we focus on. These are both spread sports which means the books will set a number. The favorite has to beat the underdog by this amount in order for their backers to take home the profits, but if the dog wins or loses by less than the number then the underdog bettors win. You can also bet money lines and totals in this sport, but the majority of action goes on the spread.
Basketball is also a spread sport. The NBA odds use a spread and totals. The total works by combing the total score of both teams at the end of the game and seeing if it goes over the number posted by the sportsbooks. The college basketball odds work exactly the same way.
The odds during baseball are a little bit different. In this sport the focus is on money lines so it’s all about which team wins, not by how much. If you think the favorite is going to win the only problem is that you have to risk more than you are going to win. Take a look at the baseball odds page to learn more. For underdogs for the amount you risk you are going to win more than you put at stake. There is also run lines which works similar to point spreads but you will still have juice similar to the money lines. Of course totals are another popular bet during the summer months. For football and basketball you can also get involved with money lines.
Use the sports picks on our site to beat the odds on every single sport!
