Ole Miss at Arkansas Football Lines

It’s the return of Houston Nutt to Fayettville, and you can bet that the Razorbacks will get motivated to make it an unwelcome visit for their former coach. The football lines makers aren’t banking on that happening this weekend though, as Ole Miss is a 6.5-point favorite over Arkansas with the total set at 54.
Ole Miss comes into this game at 3-4 and 1-3 in the SEC, with their only win being the shocker in the Swamp when they beat the Florida Gators. It seems like the Rebels might be better than their record shows though after heading to Alabama last weekend and going toe-to-toe with the no. 2 ranked team in the country. Arkansas on the other hand is trying to deal with blowing a 13-point lead in the final five minutes against Kentucky last Saturday. Motivation shouldn’t be a problem for Bobby Petrino with Nutt coming in to town, plus the Hogs have won the last four meetings between the two schools.
The Rebels offense is going to need quarterback Jevan Snead to keep better control of the ball this week if they want to win the game. Snead was 16-for-31 for 192 yards but he had a pair of interceptions and a lost fumble. Still the offense has been doing a pretty good job all season in racking up 28 ppg and 279 ypg. Snead has completed only 54.6% of his passes but for 1,464 yards while throwing 10 picks to go with his 10 touchdowns. The ground attack is getting help from a variety of players, but are led by the 322 yards gained by Brandon Bolden.
The Ole Miss defense looked asleep in the first half of the game against the Tide, but they came alive in the final 30 minutes, forcing two turnovers to keep the game close. Opponents are putting up 24.6 ppg now against the Rebels and gaining 339.3 ypg. The run defense has done well in holding opponents to 3 ypc, but the pass defense has been horrible in giving up 11 touchdowns to only four interceptions. Arkansas isn’t really putting up the points this year, barely averaging more than 18 ppg while gaining 358 ypg of offense. Tailback Michael Smith has done a good job running the ball for 791 yards with five scores, while also catching 23 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Casey Dick is struggling though, with just six touchdowns to nine picks. His two interceptions and only 94 yards passing hurt the team last week against the Wildcats.
The Razorback defense has left a lot to be desired too, giving up 14 rushing touchdowns and 26 in all. With 4.6 ypc for the opposition and 12.2 yard per completion they really haven’t been able to stop anything. Last week the pass defense feel through allowing a couple of quick touchdowns through the air to let the Wildcats back in the game.
