Penn state has had trouble finding capable signal callers since Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Michael Robinson graduated in 2005. Now, they might have two. Both Darryl Clark and Pat Delvin were sensational in the 19th ranked Nittany Lions blowout win last week.

Clark completed 11 of 14 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. Delvin was 5-for-8 for 83 yards, including a 40-yard strike to wide receiver Jordan Norwood on his first pass of the game. Penn State was able to rack up 594 yards against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on its way to a 66-10 rout. The Lions figure to have a much tougher task at hand with an Oregon State team which won nine games last season and held Stanford to just 301 yards in its season opener.

Penn State knows that it is not going to be nearly as easy to score the football against the solid Beavers defense.  It also knows that it is going to have to play some defense of its own to come away with a win against a well-coached team.  If you think the Nittany Lions will keep right on rolling in week 2, bet them at Bookmaker Sportsbook at -16.

The Beavers know they should be 1-0 coming into this contest as two interceptions and a fumble cost them in a 36-28 loss to the Stanford Cardinal. One of those turnovers cam late in the fourth when the Beavers were driving for the tying score. As Darrell Catching was reaching for the pylon in the closing seconds, he fumbled the ball out of the back of the end zone for a touchback.

Though QB Lyle Moevao threw a pair of picks, he went 34-for-54 with three touchdowns. The Beavers will likely try to find more success through the air against Penn State and for good reason. Penn State only allowed 2.6 yards per carry in 2007 which was good for fifth-best in the nation. The Lions limited Coastal Carolina to just 52 yards on 32 carries last week (1.6 yards per carry).

Many don’t realize that Oregon State is actually the team which boasted the stingiest run defense in the country last season. The Beavers only allowed 2.1 yards per carry, but they only return three starters from that unit. It was evident in week 1 as Stanford amassed 210 rushing yards on 48 carries.

That run defense will face a stiff challenge from Penn State which gained 334 yards in its opener while running at Coastal Carolina with four backs that had at least 60 yards on the ground. If you think the Beavers can keep this one close with their high-powered passing attack, you can bet Oregon State at +16 BetUS Sportsbook.
