Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears NFL Odds & Picks

The Chicago Bears are facing a must-win situation Monday Night in Soldier Field when they take on division rival Green Bay. While the Packers have fallen out of the division race with four straight defeats, they will not be lacking confidence against a team they beat 37-3 on November 16th. Unfortunately for the Bears, even a win Monday night and another in the season finale might not be enough to get them into the postseason. NFL odds makers do expect Chicago to take care of business this week, listing the Bears as 4-point favorites with the total set at 41.

The Bears trail the Minnesota Vikings by a game in the NFC North with Minnesota needing only one win in its remaining two games to clinch the division title. The Bears are currently a game behind Dallas, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta in the wild card race and a half game behind the Eagles.

Another loss to the rival Packers will slam the door on a postseason berth. The Bears looked like they had never seen the Packers before when they met just over a month ago. They allowed 30 unanswered points and a season-high 200 rushing yards. That game served as a wake up call for Chicago, which has gone on to win three of its last four straight up and against the spread.

Green Bay has gone in the opposite direction since that victory and has been a nightmare play for NFL betting backers. The Packers have lost four in a row straight up and against the spread. Green Bay has been good in division play however, with a 3-1 straight up and 4-0 against the number mark. Recently, the team has struggled to close out games. The Packers have given up fourth quarter leads in each of its last three defeats, including a 20-16 loss at Jacksonville to officially eliminate them from the playoffs. Green Bay blew a 13-7 halftime advantage allowing the Jags to rattle off 13 points in the final quarter to seal the deal. The week before, Houston drove the field with under two minutes remaining to kick a winning field goal. The week before that, Carolina scored with 1:30 remaining to punctuate the win. If you’re a Packers fan, I’m sorry I made you relive that.

Chicago was the team ripping its opponents heart out last week as it used a 60-yard drive with just over three minutes remaining to set up a game-tying field goal to send their game with the Saints into overtime. After Robbie Gould kicked a 28-yarder to end regulation, he made another from 35 yards for a 27-24 win. The win ended New Orleans’ playoff hopes. Chicago QB Kyle Orton was brilliant on the game-tying drive, completing 8 of 11 passes. Orton should have revenge on his mind after being held to 13 of 26 passing for just 133 yards against the Packers. After missing part of last week’s game with a sore toe, Bears running back Matt Forte is expected to be ready to go. Forte needs 69 yards to break Anthony Thomas’ rookie rushing record of 1,183 set in 2001. If you like Chicago to have its revenge, bet the Bears at -4 at BetUS and receive up to a 145% sign up bonus.

The Bears will have to do a much better job at stopping the run if they look to avenge their loss to Green Bay. Packers tailback Ryan Grant ran for a season-high 145 yards on 25 attempts last month against the Bears. Grant has rushed for 100 or more yards in each of his two starts against the Bears. The Bears defense has been better against the run at home, allowing only 88 yards per game, but Chicago is giving up 23.7 ppg at home this season.

The right arm of Aaron Rodgers could hold the key to the Packers pulling off the upset. Rodgers has 3,470 yards and 23 touchdown strikes on the season. Rodgers has thrown five straight 200 or more yard games with 10 touchdowns in that span. If you like Green Bay to take care of the Bears again, bet the Packers at +4 at BetUS.

The Bears have won six of the last nine meetings but the teams have split each of the last four at Soldier Field.
