2009 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Picks & Odds

It’s not often that you get to see some of the best golfers on the PGA Tour, attacking the same courses as some of the biggest celebrities of today. So besides checking out big names like Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh you can see how Chris Berman, Carson Daly, Peyton Manning and Dan Marino swing the sticks this week at the 2009 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. The event is scheduled to get underway on Thursday February 12th, and while its fun to watch the celebrities, we are going to focus on the guys who golf for a living. We have broken down the field by the favorites, guys in the middle of the pack, and the long shots we think have a great shot at winning this weekend.
Favorites: Phil Mickelson +1200, Vijay Singh +1200, Jim Furyk +1500, and Padraig Harrington +1500
There is no questioning the game of these 4 golfers, but its been a pretty shaky start to the 2009 season for Phil Mickelson, who after missing the cut the previous week finished tied for 42nd last week at the Buick Invitational. Mickelson has won this event 2 out of the last 4 years, but Vijay won it back in 2004 and was the runner up here last year to Steve Lowry. But out of this group we think Furyk will wind up having the best 4 days, and the most likely to walk away with the trophy.
Middle of the Pack: Tim Clark +2000, David Toms +2000, Mike Weir +2000, Kenny Perry +2000, KJ Choi +2500, Davis Love III +2500, and Retief Goosen +3000
There is a ton of talent sitting here, as it continues to bunch up in the middle with so few golfers playing outstanding golf week in and week out. There is a ton of guys we think are going to have big weekends, and the two we think you should really keep an eye on are Davis Love III, Tim Clark, and Mike Weir.
Long Shots: Pat Perez +4000, Nick Watney +4000, Charles Howell III +4000, Mathew Goggin +4000, DJ Trahan +5000, Brandt Snedeker +6000, and Matt Kuchar +8000
Here is where it really gets tough, as its not that these guys aren’t good golfers, its just so hard to predict when they are going to have that huge weekend and stun the field. Nick Watney was the man to do so last week, as he walked away with a win at the Buick Invitational, but it was just the 2nd win of his career. Perez has a win this season as well, so you have to keep him on your radar, but the guy we think plays the best out of this bunch is Charles Howell III, as we think he is ready to step up and really start playing some good golf.
So there you have it the best of the best this weekend at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am this weekend. To see every golfers odds to win this weekend, check out the complete list below.
