Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears NFL Spreads & Picks
The 5-4 Philadelphia Eagles take on the 4-5 Chicago Bears in the Windy City at Soldier Field on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Both of these teams would just as soon forget Week 10. The Eagles fell 31-23 to the Chargers for a second straight defeat and the Bears fell 10-6 to the 49ers for a second straight loss as well. These two teams last met last season with Chicago pulling off the upset with a 24-20 win. The Eagles have won five of the last seven meetings, but the Bears own a 27-9-1 all-time series lead. NFL lines makers have listed the Eagles as a 3-point favorite with the total set at 45.

The Eagles are expected to be without running back Brian Westbrook Sunday. That means that LeSean McCoy, who has gained 353 yards on 4.1 yards per carry this season, is going to have to step up to fill his big shoes. The running game is so important to the Eagles’ offense and here’s the proof. They are 1-4 when they gain 89 or less yards on the ground and 4-0 when they gain 90 or more. If the running game can provide some balance, the Eagles have the weapons to stretch the field through the air. Chicago will have its work cut out for itself in covering both DeSean Jackson, who has six touchdowns of 50 yards or more this season, and Brent Celek, who has a touchdown in three straight game. It is worth noting that Philly has been a solid bounce back team at 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games following a straight up loss. If you like Philly to bounce back Sunday night, bet the Eagles at -3 at BetUS.
Basically, Chicago can’t win if QB Jay Cutler continues to turn the ball over, and unfortunately, it could be more of the same Sunday night. Get this, in Chicago’s three prime time games this season, Cutler has thrown 11 interceptions. The Bears may have to make a hard push for all day games next year. The other thing in common with those three games is that they have all been on the road. Cutler has played much better at home where the team is 3-1 straight up and against the spread this season. And in Cutler’s defense, Chicago hasn’t been able to get much of anything on the ground to make the defense worry about the run game. In fact, the Bears are only averaging 3.8 yards per rush this season. But, they are averaging a strong 5.0 yards per rush at home. Perhaps, the offensive line will be able to open up some holes for Matt Forte this week to keep the aggressive Philly defense honest. And they’re going to have to or Cutler will be staring down the barrel of a shotgun Sunday night. It is worth noting that the Bears are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a home underdog and the underdog is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings. If you like Chicago in the home dog role Sunday, bet the Bears at +3 at BetUS.
