Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals NFL Lines & Picks

Written by Jimmy Boyd

steelers bengals 92409The defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium in an AFC North division battle. The Steelers fell to 1-1 as normally reliable kicker Jeff Reed missed two field goals against the Bears while the Bengals got in the win column with an impressive 31-24 win at Lambeau Field. The Steelers have owned Cincy of late, having won five straight to improve to 48-30 in the all-time series. NFL lines makers have listed the Pittsburgh Steelers as a 4-point favorite with the total set at 37.

The most famous trend surrounding Sunday’s divisional showdown is the fact the Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger is a perfect 11-0 in games played in the state of Ohio. He is 5-0 in Cleveland and 6-0 in Cincinnati. All I have to say is Big Ben must like showing off in the state he was born in. Steelers wide receive Santonio Holmes has also had great success against the Bengals, racking up 384 receiving yards in the last four meetings. While Big Ben and the Steeler wideouts are plenty good enough to win some games through the air this season, the offense is going to need to get something done on the ground or repeating as Super Bowl champs will start looking less and less likely. The Steelers have been well-known for their power running game over the years, but they have had very little success moving the football on the ground the last two weeks. In fact, they rank 28th in the league in rushing offense. If you remember, the running game got going in last year’s playoffs to propel the Steelers to the Super Bowl. It is worth noting that the Steelers are 7-0-1 against the spread in their last eight meetings in Cincinnati. If you like Ben Roethlisberger and Pittsburgh to continue their dominance in Cincinnati, bet the Steelers at -4 at BetUS.

Antwan Odom was a machine for the Bengals last week, racking up five sacks. Odom has seven sacks on the season and now he’s set to take aim at Ben Roethlisberger, who often holds onto the football too long. The Steelers offensive line has not shown the type of improvement that was expected and has already allowed six sacks this season. If Odom can get to Roethlisberger, the Bengals may just have what it takes to pull off another upset this week.

After a rusty Week 1, Bengals QB Carson Palmer was back playing at a high level. He has passed for 432 yards and three touchdowns this season. Chad Ochocinco, who is the only Bengal in franchise history with 9,000 career receiving yards, loves the big stage and he will be looking to do some damage to a defense highly regarded as the best in the game. The offense is also getting a big lift from running back Cedric Benson who has 217 yards through two games. If you think Cincy has what it takes to pull off the upset, bet the Bengals at +4 at BetUS.

Bet on the NFL with World Champion Handicapper Jimmy Boyd for a big week in the black. His NFL expert picks will be ready to this Sunday!
