Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Odds

Steelers Super Bowl Odds

The Pittsburgh Steelers added to the rich history of its franchise with a Super Bowl win in the 2005-06 season. Now they are right on the brink of adding another Super Bowl title just three years later. The Steelers have appeared in six Super Bowls and have won five of them. This will be their record setting fourteenth Conference Championship Game. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the +140 favorite to win the Super Bowl.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on a Baltimore Ravens team which they saw two times already this season. The Steelers won both of those matchups by neither eclipsed the 6-point margin of victory that NFL odds makers are expecting for Pittsburgh this Sunday. The Steelers defeated the Ravens 23-20 at home on September 29th and 13-9 at Baltimore on December 14th. With the total for this matchup set at just 34, odds makers are expecting another defensive battle.

Fading the teams coming off of bye weeks has seen dominant results in recent years, but while the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, and Carolina Panthers went down in the divisional round, the Steelers moved on with ease. One major thing they can take away from last week’s win over the San Diego Chargers is an improved offensive effort. With the AFC title game likely going to come down to which offense is better, it is imperative that the Steelers offense shows up again. Pittsburgh, known for its strong running attacks over the years, were ranked just 23rd in the NFL on the ground this season. But the Steelers found it last Sunday. Running back Willie Parker gashed the Chargers for 146 yards in the win. It helped open up the play action passing game and kept the Chargers out of the backfield. QB Ben Roethlisberger was only sacked twice and that is like a vacation compared to how the rest of the season has gone. Parker has been hampered by injuries all season but is now at full strength and the result has been back-to-back 100 yard performances.

If defense does indeed win championships, it certainly did for the Giants a season ago, then the Steelers are accurately the front runners. The Steelers are listed as 6-point favorites to win this Sunday against Baltimore. The Steelers boasted the No. 1 ranked defense in the NFL throughout the regular season and they were remarkable in shutting down the Chargers running attack. Pittsburgh only allowed 15 yards rushing to the Chargers. It was the least amount of rushing yards against them in their postseason history. Pittsburgh has been the best in the NFL against the pass this season but it did let Phillip Rivers put up some big numbers. Rivers was 21 of 35 for 308 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. The Steelers were able to sack Rivers four times and continually brought pressure. His one interception was the only play the Chargers had in the third quarter as the Steelers running game was able to milk the clock.

You have to like the fact that Big Ben has led the Steelers to a Super Bowl before and that Ravens QB Joe Flacco is just a rookie. Roethlisberger was 17 of 26 for 181 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. He managed the game perfectly, making no mistakes. Last week, Parker’s 146 yards were the most the Steelers have had in a playoff game since Franco Harris has 153 over 30 years ago.

Do your NFL betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers to win the Super Bowl if you think the odds makers have accurately determined them the favorite.
