Oakland Raiders at Baltimore Ravens NFL Betting Lines

Written by Brad Marchetti

The Oakland Raiders stepped up last weekend and upset the NY Jets as +3 dogs and will look to slug it out on the gridiron this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens at 1 PM ET. The Oakland Raiders vs Baltimore Ravens game has Baltimore at -8 chalk with Ravens defensive leader MLB Ray Lewis leading the charge. This game will feature twin brother defensive coordinators Rex Ryan and Rob Ryan showcasing their aggressive schemes against two young QB’s. The Ravens rookie QB Joe Flacco is coming off the best game of his young career. Oakland QB JeMarcus Russell (60-MPH Pass-Speed = 100 MPH Fastball) has been off-target, but new head coach Tom Cable has opened up the offense and Russell could benifit. The NFL betting odds for the Oakland Raiders vs Baltimore Ravens game is Baltimore at -7 to -9 on the SPREAD.

The Baltimore Ravens 5th ranked defense came up big last week in a 27-13 win over Miami as -3 chalk to get back to the .500 mark. This weekend, the Ravens physical defense led by MLB Ray Lewis (46 Tackles 1.0 Sack) will throw the kitchen sink at the less than instinctive Raiders QB JeMarcus Russell (76.0 passer rating). Playmaking Baltimore OLB Terrell Suggs (4.0 Sacks 28 TKL 6 TFL) had this to say about last week’s team effort. “This was going to make or break our season,” saidSuggs, whose 44-yard interception return for a touchdown gave the Ravens a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. “When you lose three or four games in a row, players are only human, and they stop believing. We’ve got guys believing.” The Ravens potent run defense allowing 2.8 yards per carry will challenge the Raiders 5th ranked rushing attack. Oakland RB’s Darren McFadden (315 LB. Bench-Press 4.40 40-speed) is a slasher that will team with Justin Fargas (4.45 40-speed) to try and take pressure off Russell. Fargas and McFadden will need to get going early because Russell fumbles when he is hit often. If you want to do your NFL betting on the over/under for the Oakland Raiders vs Baltimore Ravens game it is set at 36 points.

Oakland has created pressure with 16.0 defensive sacks and will look to attack Ravens QB Joe Flacco. Flacco (68.8) has made plenty of rookie mistakes that he will need to avoid in a game likely decided by turnovers. Flacco (55 MPH Pass-Speed = 95 MPH Fastball) will have a hobbled running crew that will need to step up. Starting RB Willis McGahee (400+ Lb. Bench-Press 4.45 40-speed) is banged up, leaving primary running duties to bulldozing 260 Lb. RB Le’Ron McClain (4.0 YPC 4 TD). Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gave his analysis of what he plans to see from the Raiders defense. “I’m sure Oakland is going to be cranked up to stop that running game, so we’ve got to find a way to run it against them, and to throw it and to run the screen game and to protect the quarterback and all the things we have to do. The Ravens run defense may have fallen off a notch with NT Kelly Gregg expected to miss a second consecutive games. The Raiders have a pair of solid cornerbacks in DeAngelo Hall (3 INT’s) and Nnamdi Asomugha that could play a large role in the outcome of this game.

This will be a smash-mouth affair that will be fun to watch. Oakland will need a big game from it’s vaunted running game to pull off the big upset, but they are capable with talent on both sides of the ball and a fresh start under Tom Cable. The NFL betting lines on who is going to win the the Oakland Raiders vs Baltimore Ravens game straight up is Baltimore -290 to -335.
