Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans NFL Betting Odds & Predictions

Rookie QB Joe Flacco is already showing glimpses of brilliance and his strong play has helped the Baltimore Ravens win three straight game on their way to a 5-3 mark on the season. The Houston Texans will be without starting QB Matt Schaub this week, but odds makers are still calling this one a toss up because of hos successful the team has been at home and because of how successful it was under back up Sage Rosenfels last season. Bookmaker odds makers are calling this one a pick ‘em game with the total set at 42.
The Ravens lost three straight games from late September to mid-October to cause them some major concerns following a 2-0 start to the season, but the Black Birds have rebounded by winning three in a row thanks to great offensive play. Baltimore is outscoring its opponents 93-50 during its current winning streak. Rookie QB Jose Flacco has been the key ingredient to Baltimore’s recent success. During the streak, Flacco is 46 of 76 for 620 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions with a rock solid QB rating of 104.1. To reward the youngster for his efforts, he was named the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 248 yards and two scores to beat rival Cleveland last Sunday. His play was pivotal in helping Baltimore overcome a 14-point third quarter deficit. And Flacco isn’t the only Ravens rookie making noise. Running back Rays Rice exploded for 154 yards on the ground last week in just his third career NFL start. The Ravens have to be thrilled that the draft and a coaching changes have got this offense rolling so quickly. While the offense has drastically improved, the defense remains solid. Bet the Ravens as a pk at Bookmaker this week.
Houston has lost its last two games with the Ravens but those losses have come by a combined five points so it comes as no surprise that the NFL odds makers are calling this one a toss up. If Houston wants to win this week, it’s going to have to get the job done without starting QB Matt Schaub. Schaub went down with a knee injury last Sunday in a 28-21 loss to the Vikings. The injury is expected to keep him out for at least two weeks. This is the second straight season in which Schaub could be missing extensive time. Luckily, the Texans have a proven backup in Sage Rosenfels to take over. Rosenfels was 4-1 as a starter last season and a big reason why the team finished with its best record in franchise history. Rosenfels has made one start this season though that did not go so well. He gave up two fumbles to the Colts to allow them to come back from a 17-point fourth quarter deficit to steal a win. Rosenfels couldn’t have been much more efficient in replacing Schaub last Sunday. He was 21 of 29 with two touchdowns but he did throw an interception in the third quarter in the Vikings red zone which could have cost the Texans the win. Rosenfels will be in for a challenge this week against a Baltimore defense which ranks fourth in the NFL in passing defense and second in total defense. The good news is that the Texans will be back home where they have won three straight. If you like Houston to continue its solid play at home, bet the Texans at Bookmaker.
