Washington Redskins at Baltimore Ravens NFL Lines & Picks

The Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Ravens will battle it out on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in Week 14 action in what could be a pivotal game for each team in terms of making the playoffs. Though Baltimore has struggles against the NFL’s elite, it has handled its business against the small fish and that has put it in the middle of the AFC playoff hunt. Odds makers have listed the Ravens as 5-point favorites with the total set at 35.5.
Baltimore has been on fire, winning six of its last seven games but it will face a stiff test against a solid Redskins team this week. Despite having a rookie coach, a first-year quarterback and playing with much the same roster that went 5-11 last season, Baltimore is sitting at 8-4 and only one game behind Pittsburgh in the AFC North. It is currently in position to make the postseason as a wild card team. The Ravens have put themselves in a good position by beating the teams that they are supposed to. They’re 6-0 against teams with losing records, including 4-0 against division rivals Cleveland and Cincinnati. However, Ravens NFL betting backers will take note that they are just 2-4 against teams with winning marks. That record includes a 31-3 loss to Indianapolis and a 30-10 defeat against the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Baltimore is going to have to find a way to beat the elite as it faces, Washington, Pittsburgh and Dallas in its next three games. The Ravens will have plenty of momentum going into this one though, having outscored its opponents 70-10 in consecutive wins. The Ravens started out the season with a conservative approach under rookie QB Joe Flacco and it tanked. They averaged just 15.6 ppg during a 2-3 start. The Ravens then decided to put more faith in their rookie signal caller and it has paid off. During their 6-1 run, they are averaging 30.6 ppg. Flacco has thrown 11 touchdowns with only two interceptions in the last seven games, and is getting comfortable taking more chances with his receivers. Flacco was 19 of 29 for 280 yards and two scores last Sunday. If you like Baltimore to stay hot this week, bet the Ravens at -5 at BetUS and receive up to a 50% sign up bonus.
After a hot start under first-year head man Jim Zorn, the Skins are starting to slow down at the worst possible time. QB Jason Campbell looked strong in the early going running Zorn’s version of the West Coast offense. He posted three straight games with a 100-plus passer rating to get Washington off to a 4-1 start. Oh how things have changed. Now he is the nucleus of Redskins criticism after throwing just four touchdown passes in his last seven games. Consequently, the Redskins are 3-4 in that stretch. Washington has really played all that poorly, it has just been beaten by better teams. Washington was considered a strong contender after gaining back-to-back road wins over Dallas and Philly earlier in the year but is 0-3 since against teams with winning records. The Skins only November win was against lowly Seattle. They were stung for 404 yards in last week’s home loss to the Giants. If they are going to end their skid against teams with winning records, they’ll need a big game out of Clinton Portis. Portis, who entered last week’s game as the league’s leading rusher, was held to a season-low 22 yards on 11 carries. It will not be easy as the Ravens have not allowed a 100-yard rusher in 31 games. They’re holding opponents to an average of 78.3 yards on the ground, which is third-fewest in the league. If you think Washington can bounce back this week, bet the Redskins at +5 at BetUS.
