NFL Betting: Washington Redskins at Seattle Seahawks

Written by Brad Marchetti

The Washington Redskins will be looking for revenge when they travel to Quest field to face the Seattle Seahawks. The Washington Redskins vs. Seattle Seahawks game will be a rematch from the Redskins 14-35 Wild Card loss to Seattle (2-8). The Redskins (6-4) are trying to keep up in the NFC Beast by winning on the road at the notoriously loud Quest Field. The Redskins are favored by a field goal in this game and are 5-1 ATS as away favorites. The NFL odds for the Washington Redskins vs. Seattle Seahawks game is Washington -3.0 to 3.5 on the SPREAD.

Even with leader Matt Hasselbeck (52 MPH pass-speed = 92 MPH fastball) healthy the Seattle offense struggled against the Cardinals last week. The Redskins have a strong #4 ranked defense that could get back All-Pro DE Jason Taylor (6’6” 245 4.75 40-speed). The Redskins pass-defense has a stout 74.6 passer rating but only 15.0 sacks. The Redskins need to get in Hasselbeck’s face and disrupt his rhythm. Last week Hasselbeck (55.0 passer rating) looked out of sync in his first game back. Seattle’s 31st ranked offense got a boost last week with the return of starting WR Deion Branch. Despite the return of Branch (4.45) the Seahawks lack the arsenal to challenge the Redskins talented safeties. The Seahawks biggest problem on offense has been the lack of a consistent running game. RB Julius Jones (4.50) could have a tough time finding running room behind a banged up O-line. The Redskins have been nasty against the run allowing only 843 yards per game.

Redskins All-Pro RB Clinton Portis (4.30) is iffy with a sprained knee. If Portis can’t go the Redskins could turn to former Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander (MVP 2005). The 31-year old Alexander is still a big, instinctive running back with something to prove against his former team. Washington will try to chop away at Seattle’s 28th ranked defense with a power running game and short passes. The Redskins must do a better job of protecting Campbell against a decent Seattle pass-rush with 24.0 sacks. Washington is a strong run-blocking unit that has paved the way for 139.4 rushing yards per game. The Redskins should be able to manhandle the Seahawks in the trenches. Seattle’s defense is fast but still too undersized. If you are making your straight up NFL football picks for the Washington Redskins vs. Seattle Seahawks game is Washington -160 to -175 on the MONEYLINE.

The Seahakwks are 3-7 ATS as non-division home underdogs. Seattle has not proved that they can keep up with a well-balanced NFC East team like the Redskins.
