Washington Redskins at Seattle Seahawks Line
The Washington Redskins (3-7) will try to avoid a seventh straight defeat when they visit the Seattle Seahawks (4-6) Sunday.
Unfortunately, the Redskins’ misery could continue. They are currently listed as a 3.5-point underdog with the total set at 37.5.
The Skins left it all on the field last week but came up short in a 27-24 overtime loss at home to rival Dallas.
Rex Grossman completed 25 of 38 passes for 289 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Seven of those completions, including one of the touchdown tosses, went to Jabar Gaffney, who led the team with 115 receiving yards.
Roy Helu led a meager rushing attack with 35 yards on eight carries.
The defending NFC West champs won back-to-back games for the first time this season with a 24-7 win on the road over the St. Louis Rams in Week 11.
Tarvaris Jackson connected on 14 of 24 pass attempts for 148 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Two of those completions went to Mike Williams, who led the team with 62 receiving yards. Sidney Rice hauled in Jackson’s lone touchdown strike.
Marshawn Lynch led the way on the ground with 88 of the team’s 126 rushing yards and a score.
The running game has been a big part of Seattle’s success. The Seahawks enter Week 12 ranked just 27th in rushing with 95.1 yards per game but have averaged 135.7 yards on the ground in their last three games. They are 4-1 this season when rushing for 100 yards or more.
The Seahawks could be poised for a big day on the ground versus a Redskins team that has allowed an average of 139.2 rushing yards during its losing streak. The Redskins did hold the Cowboys to just 89 rushing yards last week – the first time in six games they’ve held an opponent below the century mark on the ground.
The Redskins need to find a way to make teams respect their running game. They have averaged just 55.5 rushing yards during their losing streak. That’s a big departure from the 126.8 they averaged during their 3-1 start.
The Redskins have won five of the last seven in this series with the most recent being a 20-17 victory in Seattle on Nov. 23, 2008.
The home team has had the edge in this series though, going 4-0-1 against the spread in the last five meetings. This trend very well could continue as the Seahawks are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games and 6-1-1 against the number in their last eight overall.
The Redskins are 1-5 against the spread in their last six.
In regard to the total, the under has been the play in Seattle, going 4-1 in the last five matchups.
