Saints Could Move Reggie Bush

Written by Jimmy Boyd on February 8, 2010

Now that the 2009-10 season is in the books, it’s time to start thinking about the 2010-2011 season. One big question that must be asked is if Reggie Bush will be back with the Saints considering he is expected to earn $8 million next season.  Bush only had five rushes for 25 yards, four catches for 38 yards, and one punt return for four yards on Super Bowl Sunday. He did have a big game against the Arizona Cardinals in the Divisional round and scored a touchdown against the Vikings in the NFC Championship Game. Bush is a game-breaker, but his health has been an issue, and he hasn’t proven that he can be an every down back. With this in mind, the Saints could ask Bush to restructure his contract according to Sports Illustrated.

The Saints surely don’t want to release Bush, but they would like to pay him less. If there is a scenario where he is released, we then must start to speculate which teams could be interested in his services. The first one to come to mind is the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle could use a running back, and new head coach Pete Carroll should know how to use Bush as well as anybody.

The 49ers could be a good fit as well. Frank Gore gets a huge workload, and with that in mind, the team could use a change of pace guy to help take the pressure off of Gore.

The Tennessee Titans are another team that are reportedly on the lookout for a running back to spell Chris Johnson. Plus, they need a returner and wide receiver help.
