Saints’ Drew Brees Wins Super Bowl MVP Award
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees can now be mentioned, without a doubt, in the same sentence as the other elite quarterbacks in the game after leading the Saints to a 31-17 Super Bowl 44 win and taking home MVP honors.
Brees finished the game with a record-tying 32 completions out of 39 attempts for 288 yards and two touchdowns. He was something to marvel at in the four quarter when he strung together 10 straight completions to help the Saints score the go-ahead touchdown.
What makes it even sweeter is that Brees captured Super Bowl glory by outdueling Peyton Manning, who is already considered to be the best QB ever by some analysts. Manning already has four NFL MVP awards and a Super Bowl MVP award to his name.
Here’s what Brees had to say: “We just believed in ourselves and we knew that we had an entire city and maybe an entire country behind us. “What can I say? I tried to imagine what this moment would be like for a long time, and it’s better than expected.”
“I’m just feeling like it was all meant to be. What can I say? The birth of my son, and in the first year of his life we won a Super Bowl championship.”
