Seattle Seahawks at Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Week 7 Predictions & Odds

The Seattle Seahawks head to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers on national television on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in Week 7 action. Seattle’s terrible play on the road this season has left the books no choice but to stack the NFL odds heavily against them. The Seahawks are listed as the 10.5-point underdog with the total set at 38.
Tampa Bay has gotten the job done with a couple of veteran signal callers this season. With Brian Griese injured, the Bucs will turn back to Jeff Garcia as they look to stay undefeated at home.
Garcia was benched after a 24-20 loss in the season opener and Griese came in and led the Bucs to three straight victories. Griese injured his throwing arm on October 5th against the Broncos and then missed last Sunday’s game against Carolina.
Garcia stepped in seamlessly and led Tampa Bay to a dominant 27-3 win. The vet was 15 of 20 for 1734 yards and a score and avoided the turnover bug. The team showed they were still confident behind Garcia who led them to a division title and the postseason a season ago.
Home has most definitely been where the heart is for the Bucs this season. In three games in the Pirate Ship, the Bucs have outscored their opponents 81-33.
The Bucs success this season can definitely be attributed to the defense. This unit has forced nine turnovers, is allowing less than 250 total yards per game, and has not allowed a rushing touchdown this season.
Here’s this week’s kicker; Tampa Bay has never beaten the Seahawks at home. They have lost all for of Seattle’s visits and are only 1-7 in the series. If you think this streak comes to an end this week and Tampa Bay covers the NFL betting odds in the process, bet the Buccaneers at -10.5 at Bookmaker and receive a 20% cash signup bonus.
It’s going to be a tall order for Seattle to pick up a win at Tampa Bay this week without starting QB Matt Hasselbeck in the lineup, but perhaps the Sea Birds can keep this one within the number for backers.
Hasselbeck continues to nurse a bulging disk in his back and a knee problem is related to the back injury.
Backup Seneca Wallace will get the call and he is highly regarded as one of the better backups in the league.
While Wallace is somewhat banged up as well, his presence would surely give the Seahawks a huge lift after they were not able to get the job done with third-stringer Charlie Frye last week.
The passing game is going to have to be revived for the Seahawks to turn things around. Thanks to an injury-plagued receiving unit, Seattle ranks 31st in the league in passing offense. Now that the receiving corps is getting healthy, Seattle loses its All-Pro QB. That’s the type of year it’s been thus far for the Seahawks.
The defense has not helped out much either, ranking 27th in the league in total defense.
This is still a Seattle team which has made five straight playoff appearances and has won four straight NFC West championships. These guys no how to play championship-caliber football, and I expect them to play much better as they get healthier. If you think Seattle can keep things interesting this Sunday night, bet the Seahawks at +10.5 at Bookmaker.
