Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys Line

Written by Jimmy Boyd on October 31, 2011

The Seattle Seahawks (2-5) and Dallas Cowboys (3-4) will be looking to bounce back from Week 8 defeats when they meet Sunday at Cowboys Stadium.

The Cowboys are currently listed as a 12-point favorite with the total set at 42.

Dallas was embarrassed to the tune of 34-7 in a loss at division rival Philadelphia last Sunday night. It fell behind 34-0 before scoring a meaningless touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The defense, which has been solid all season, was torched for 495 yards.

Quarterback Tony Romo, completed 18 of 35 passes for 203 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the loss.

Wide receiver Laurent Robinson led the team with five catches for 103 yards and a score.

Running back DeMarco Murray led the way on the ground with 74 yards on eight carries.

The Seahawks are coming off a disappointing performance as well. They lost 34-12 at home to the Cincinnati Bengals despite outgaining them by 159 yards.

Poor clock management and special teams play were two of the big reasons why Seattle couldn’t get the job done.

Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson completed 21 of 40 passes for 323 yards and an interception. Ben Obomanu was on the receiving end of four passes for 107 yards to lead the Seahawks.

Leon Washington led the team on the ground with 34 yards on two rushes.

The Cowboys have an excellent opportunity to get back in the win column this week if they can keep the Seattle running game under control.

Dallas has been one of the best run-stuffing teams in the NFL this season, ranking fourth with 93.9 yards allowed per game, but it was carved up by Philly last week.

The Dallas stop unit allowed the Eagles to rush for 239 yards.

It’s important that Dallas keep Seattle under the century mark on the ground as it is 0-2 when allowing more than 100 rushing yards this season.

There’s a good chance the Cowboys will be able to hold the Seattle running game in check. The Seahawks currently rank 31st in the league with 77.7 rushing yards per game

The Seahawks have managed to rush for over 100 yards on two occasions this season and have won both of those games.

These two have split the last eight meetings, but the Cowboys have won the last two with the most recent being a 38-17 victory at home on Nov. 1, 2009.

The Cowboys haven’t been reliable as chalk in recent years. In fact, they’re just 2-10 against the spread when valued as a favorite dating back to the beginning of last season. However, Seattle doesn’t inspire much confidence in this spot either.

The Seahawks are just 1-8 against the number since the beginning of the 2009 season when valued as a road underdog of 7.5 to 14 points.

In regard to the total, the over just might be the play. After all, Dallas has finished over the total in 9 of its last 11 at home. We’ve seen an average of 55.0 points scored in these contests.
