Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals NFL Week 10 Predictions & Picks
The 3-5 Seattle Seahawks look to inch closer to the division lead when they go head-to-head with the 5-3 Arizona Cardinals Sunday in NFC West action. Last week, the Cardinals looked like a team capable of representing the NFC in the Super Bowl again, crushing the Bears 41-21 on the road behind five touchdown strikes by Kurt Warner. The Seahawks came up with five interceptions on their way to a 32-20 win over the Lions. These two teams last met back on October 18th with Arizona dominating the Seahawks 27-3. The Cardinals have won three straight and five of the last six in the series to take a 21-19 all-time lead. NFL lines makers are listing the Arizona Cardinals as 8-point favorites with the total set at 47.

Nate, Nate, Nate. Why did you have to do it? Seahawks leading receiver Nate Burleson, who has 45 catches for 562 yards and three touchdowns on the season, came out and guaranteed a win this week. I’m not sure why players insist on doing this sort of thing. The team has enough motivation to win regardless and all it does is gives the opponent more incentive to want to kick your butt. Burleson may be able to back up his words, though, if QB Matt Hasselbeck plays the way he has in recent years at Arizona. Hasselbeck has thrown five touchdown passes with no interceptions in his last three starts in the desert.
Defensively, you have to get some heat on Kurt Warner to make him throw the football before he would like to. We saw Carolina do a good job a couple weeks ago and perhaps the Seahawks will be able to take a page out of the Panthers’ book. Defensive end Patrick Kerney is the guy that could be a game-changer. He loves playing against the Cards and has 11.5 sacks in just six games against them. It is worth noting that the Cardinals are just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games as a favorite of 3.5-10.0 points. If you think odds makers are spotting Seattle too many points, bet the Seahawks at +8 at Bookmaker.
What is up with the Cardinals at home? Last season Arizona played its best football on its home field, but this year it is off to a 1-3 straight up and against the spread start, having been outscored by 39 points in those three defeats. The Cardinals are 2-0 straight up and against the spread at home against the Seahawks the last two seasons, though, so perhaps they will be able to get back on track at home this week.
If Kurt Warner can take care of the football, one has to think that he has too many weapons at his disposal for the Seahawks to be able to stop them all. Since 2005, Larry Fitzgerald’s 424 catches are the most in the NFL during that span and he is having another terrific year with 56 catches for 632 yards and seven touchdowns despite the best efforts of the opposition to stop him.
While Arizona’s offense is usually the story, the defense has stole the show at times this season. It certainly did when the Cardinals faced the Seahawks the first time, holding them to only 14 yards rushing and 114 yards passing. Another dominant performance like that would almost guarantee a win. It is worth noting that the Seahawks are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog. If you like Arizona to pull off the season sweep and pick up the cover in the process, bet the Cardinals at -8 at Bookmaker.
