Silva Jardine UFC 84 Predictions
"The Axe Murderer"
Wanderlei Silva will face
off with "The Dean of Mean"
Keith Jardine in a super
light heavyweight bout at
UFC 84. Silva is one of the
all-time greats in MMA
competition, and
BodogLife.com oddsmakers
feel that experience is
worthy of him being listed
as the
-160 favorite against
one of the top light
heavyweights in the sport.
Jimmy Boyd's Silva –
Jardine predictions will
deliver you a big winner in
this highly anticipated
bout.
Keith Jardine's power and
explosiveness displayed in
his wrestling and kickboxing
earned him a career win over
Chuck Liddell last September
at
UFC 76. Any fighter able
to pull off a win over
Liddell has the ability to
be a champion and that's
what Jardine will be
fighting for here. A win
over Silva should get him
that title shot. It's been
well noted that few fighters
have a skill set as complete
as Jardine.
Silva is as legendary as
they come in MMA circles
with over 10 years of
domination in the sport. He
has compiled a career record
of 31-8-1 and is without
question one of the best
ever in the light
heavyweight division. At
UFC 79, Silva went down
to Chuck Liddell in a
three-round war, but that
fight showed me that he
still had plenty of juice
left. Silva is a former
Pride champ. He has defeated
UFC Light Heavyweight
Champion Quinton Jackson
twice and that's why we see
him as the favorite here. He
also has impressive wins
over Dan Henderson, Kazushi
Sakuraba, Ricardo Arona,
Hidehiko Yoshida, and
Kazuyuki Fujita.
Silva wants to prove to
himself and his fans that he
is still the same man who
has dominated fighters for
over a decade and Jardine
wants to add Silva's name to
his list of icons that he
has knocked off to further
cement his place in history.
The fact that both fighters
respect each other tells me
to get ready for a
three-round battle. In 39
career matches, Silva has
only been knocked out four
times so I definitely don't
see him getting knocked out
here. But this time around,
I like "The Dean of Mean" to
prevail via decision. I
think Jardine is at his peak
right now as recent big wins
have given him tons of
confidence. He's ready to
make that title push. Silva
on the other hand, has been
doing this for so long that
he is starting to get
complacent, which leads me
to believe that his best
fights are behind him.
Prediction: Jardine
As impressive as Silva was against Liddell, he still
lost the fight. Jardine was able to beat Liddell,
something few fighters have been able to accomplish.
Jardine desperately wants a shot at Quinton Jackson and
the light heavyweight title and he knows he must win
this one to get that opportunity. This is not going to
be an easy fight for Jardine, but when it's all said and
done, his versatility will have allowed him to land more
blows. We'll take the underdog,
Keith Jardine at +130 odds to win this super light
heavyweight bout.
