Super Bowl 44 Recap
Super Bowl 44 is in the books with the New Orleans Saints coming out on top 31-17 over the Indianapolis Colts. It was a great day for Super Bowl betting as Jimmy Boyd’s Super Bowl picks both cashed on the Saints +6 and the Saints/Colts Under 57. Here’s a little recap of last night’s game.
1st quarter: The Colts struck first with a 38-yard Matt Stover field goal to go up 3-0. Then, they struck again with Peyton Manning connecting with Pierre Garcon for a 19-yard touchdown pass to go up 10-0.
2nd quarter: The second quarter belonged to the Saints, but Indy still came out looking pretty good because it was able to hold New Orleans two a pair of field goals. Garrett Hartley connected from 46 and 44 yards out to cut the lead to 10-6.
3rd quarter: The Saints started the second half with the absolutely ridiculous decision to onside kick. If they hadn’t come up with it, it could have been disastrous, but Saints head man Sean Payton lives by the mantra “no guts no glory.” New Orleans wasted little time going in for a third quarter score with Drew Brees finding Pierre Thomas for a 16-yard touchdown pass to go up 13-10. But the Colts would strike back with running back Joseph Addai scoring a four-yard touchdown to regain the lead (17-13). The Saints would add another field goal from Garrett Hartley, but the Colts still took a 17-16 lead into the fourth.
4th quarter: In the fourth, the Saints took the lead on a short Brees touchdown strike to Jeremy Shockey and they completed their two point conversion to make it 24-17. And then, Tracy Porter sealed the deal with a pick-six to give the Saints a 31-17 Super Bowl 44 victory.
