Super Bowl Betting: Ben Roethlisberger Props
If Big Ben Roethlisberger can lead the Steelers to a second world title in just his fifth season, he is off to a great start on his quest to becoming one of the NFL’s all-time great QB’s. Roethlisberger has been banged up most of the season but he still managed to play in all 16 regular season games throwing for 3314 yards. He threw 17 touchdowns against 15 interceptions and recorded the second lowest QB rating of his career (80.2), but he still came up big for the Steelers in all the big spots, leading them back to the Super Bowl despite facing the NFL’s toughest schedule. Big Ben is hoping to play better in this Super Bowl than he did in the last when he recorded the lowest passer rating of a winning QB in Super Bowl history. Sportsbook.com lists Ben Roethlisberger Super Bowl props and Jimmy Boyd breaks them down in this article.
Ben Roethlisberger – Total Passing Yards – Over 235.5 (-115)/Under 235.5 (-115)
Roethlisberger averaged just 207.1 passing yards per game during the regular season. He did throw for 255 against Baltimore but he was well under this mark at 181 against San Diego in the playoffs. The Steelers want to be able to run the football on the Cards as being able to do so has made their offense better in the postseason. Pittsburgh’s game plan keeps Ben Under here. Bet Ben Roethlisberger Under 235.5 passing yards in Super Bowl XLIII.
Ben Roethlisberger – Total Completions – Over 17.5 (-125)/Under 17.5 (-105)
Big Ben has been right around this number in both playoff games and averaged a shade over for the regular season (17.625). I think Arizona is going to attempt to make Pitt beat them through the air. It is going to give up the underneath stuff and look to take away the big plays. The yards won’t rack up but the completions should for Roethlisberger. Bet Ben Roethlisberger Over 17.5 completions in Super Bowl XLIII.
Ben Roethlisberger – Total Pass Attempts – Over 30.5 (-120)/Under 30.5
This one goes hand in hand with the previous. Ben completed 60% of his passes this season and 60% of 30.5 is 18.3. I’ll take the over here as well. Bet Ben Roethlisberger Over 30.5 attempts in Super Bowl XLII.
Ben Roethlisberger – Longest Completion – Over 37.5 (-115)/Under 37.5 (-115)
Pittsburgh does not have a big play offense, but this number gives us excellent value. Santonio Holmes is a huge deep threat and he will get loose once if not twice in this game. Another huge thing to think about here is the receivers running after the catch, which Holmes is great at. Bet Ben Roethlisberger longest completion Over 37.5 in Super Bowl XLIII.
Ben Roethlisberger – Total Touchdown Passes Thrown – Over 1.5 (-155)/Under 1.5 (+125)
I’ll take the under and the value here. Ben did not throw a lot of TD passes this season (17) and he has thrown 1 in each game in the playoffs. Pitt runs the ball when it gets in the red zone as it is a conservative offense looking for points. Ben gets 1 TD through the air but he could get another with his legs. Bet Ben Roethlisberger Under 1.5 TD passes in Super Bowl XLIII.
Distance of FIRST Ben Roethlisberger Touchdown Pass – Over 9.5 (-115)/Under 9.5 (-115)
Like I said, Pitt likes to run the ball in red zone. Ben’s first TD pass will be longer than a 10-yard strike. Bet Ben Roethlisberger Over 9.5 yards on 1st TD pass in Super Bowl XLIII.
