Tarver Muriqi Odds
Everyone who loves boxing will be looking to bet on the fights coming up on June 9th. The first major one is Muriqi Tarver odds which will be followed by Cotto and Judah. Elvir Muriqi is Albanian boxer nick named the Kosovo Kid. He comes into this bout ranked around 40th in the light heavyweight division and that is one of the biggest reasons that he is such a major underdog to Tarver this weekend. The 28-year-old does come into this game with a 34-3 record with 21 knockouts though so he shouldn’t be taken too lightly. He has won three straight fights and his last loss came in April of 2005 against Oleksandr Garaschenko. in a fight at Madison Square Garden. This fight went the distance and Muriqi lost a split decision, but the judges all scored it within a point. This could be a nice underdog selection if you like big chances bringing big paydays.
Anotonio Tarver is almost 40 years old now so this match will be a little battle of the old versus young. Tarver was the first guy to ever beat the odds and knock out Roy Jones, Jr and was a star in Rocky Balboa last year as Mason “The Line” Dixon. Tarver is a southpaw who has gone by the names of Magic Man and The Legend Killer. Tarver has been fighting professionally since the age of 28, and he won his first ten fights against relative cupcakes, knocking eight of them out. His first loss came in 2000 against Eric Harding in a unanimous decision. He then went on to win four straight fights, including a fifth round knockout against Harding in their rematch. Once Roy Jones vacated his light heavyweight titles in 2003, Tarver took on Montell Griffen and went on to win by unanimous decision, crowing himself the champion. When Jones decided to return to the light heavyweight division, he went on to beat Tarver in a close majority decision that some had thought should have went Tarver’s way. The rematch was held seven months later and many experts thought Jones would handle him easily. However, Tarver knocked Jones out in the second round.
Tarver is also coming off a fight last June against Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins was a 3-to-1 underdog who dominated the fight against Tarver in winning a unanimous decision. As a result of the fight Tarver had to donate $250,000 to a charity due to a clause in the contract in which gave that penalty for not knocking him out by the fifth round. This fight was his last in 2006, and at his age we will see if he can get back to prime form and make a decent fight against top-level competition.
