Temple at Kent State Football Odds & Picks

The Temple Owls will head to Dix Stadium on Wednesday night to take on the Kent State Golden Flashes. While this is not the prime college football matchup of the night, you can still make a little extra money with your football betting on this game too. Jack Jones has a pretty strong play going on the total of his game and he’ll be offering his free football picks on the side at the bottom of this article. Temple is listed as a 1-point favorite with the total set at 45.
Temple comes into this game at 3-6 SU and 6-2-1 ATS while Kent State currently sits at 2-7 SU and 2-5 ATS. Neither one of these teams are in contention for the Mid-American Conference title with those kinds of records. The Owls though are due for a win if you follow their latest pattern of alternating wins and losses over their last five games, since last time out they lost a heart breaker to navy, 33-27, in overtime back on November 1st. Temple had a 27-7 lead with less than 10 minutes to play in that one, but gave up 26 unanswered points to walk away the loser. The Owls may be struggling but at least their games have been competitive, with none of their last three loses coming by more than 10 points.
Kent State is coming off a 45-30 loss to Bowling Green back on November 1st. The team didn’t cover either as they were six-point underdogs on the road. The Golden Flashes have given up 34.5 points per game over their last six are now 1-13 SU against their last 14 Division I-A teams, going just 2-12 ATS during that span.
Last year’s contest between these two teams saw the Owls walk away as 24-14 winners, despite being the underdog on their home field. It was an ugly game for college football fans as they had to watch Temple compile 295 yards, which was massive in relation to Kent’s 124. Back in 2006 the Golden Flashes beat the Owls 28-17, but didn’t cover as they were 23.5 favorites at home.
While breaking down the college football odds on this game we found some interesting trends to consider. Kent is 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games, 1-8 ATS in their last nine at home, 3-13 ATS against MAC teams, 2-11 ATS against teams below .500 and 0-5 ATS in their last five November games. Temple on the other hand is 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11, 5-2 ATS their last seven road games, 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 conference games, 4-1-1 ATS against their last six losing teams, and 5-1-1 ATS following a bye week.
While it isn’t easy breaking down the matchup of two teams that are this bad, I think I have to give the edge to Kent in this one. You have to like a home underdog whenever you can get it, and as bad as Temple has played this year they shouldn’t be a road favorite against anyone. I don’t really feel all that strongly about this play, but if you want stronger winners then think about signing up for my college football picks package tonight and through the weekend. I’ll pad your bankroll and win your some extra spending money.
