Texas Oklahoma Odds
The Texas-OU Game, the most anticipated and talked about rivalry in the Big 12 is scheduled for this Saturday. The third-ranked Oklahoma Sooners and No. 11 Texas Longhorn will definitely be ready to put on a show for the enthusiastic crowd at the Cotton Bowl. This year’s game is just the second time in seven years that both teams will face with each other with unblemished records.
The rivalry goes back more than a hundred years. The Sooners have a remarkable record against the Longhorns. In their last 11 meetings, Oklahoma has won eight, including last year by a 28-20 score. Oklahoma is likely to come away with another win this week, favored by 9.5 points with a total of 56.5 set.
Oklahoma
Oklahoma stands with a record of 4-0, 1-0 Big 12. Their first game was against Tulsa where they came out firing with a 47-14 win. Next, they contended with Florida State, who was at the time ranked No. 5. It was a tight game, but Oklahoma scored the final ten points to win 23-13.
Soon after, the Sooners squared off against Missouri on September 24th. Their win wasn’t as stunning as expected. The sloppy performance ended with a 38-28 triumph. However, they did make a statement against Ball State last week. Oklahoma set the scoreboards ablaze with their 62-6 dominion. They were able to stop the offense of the Cardinals to 214 total yards and forced four turnovers.
The Sooners have Landry Jones as a candidate for the Heisman Trophy. He has completed 71.6% of his passes for an immense 1,447 yards and a huge 10 TD. His only inadequacy is his five careless throws that resulted in interceptions. This Saturdayhe’d better take good care of that ball if the Sooners are going to come out on top.
Dominique Whaley is making waves with his team-high 379 rushing yards and 7 TDs. Another player who is stepping up is Ryan Broyles with 38 receptions, 476 yards and six TDs.
This year, the Sooners continued to be one of the leading offensive teams, but their defense isn’t bad either. They are 4th in total offense, racking up an average of 545.1 yards/game. They come in 5th in passing with an average of 377.8 yards/game. They are listed 11th in scoring offense (42.5 points/game). In overall defense, they land in the 39th spot (348.0 yards/game). They average 15.3 points/game in scoring defense which gets them the 14th place in that category.
Texas
The Longhorns entered this season unranked for the first time since 1998, but with their 4-0, 1-0 record in the Big 12, they are making a statement that they are a team to contend with. Their most recent win came with their bout against Iowa State which closed at a score of 37-14.
Case McCoy stepped in the field about halfway through the BYU game and has performed superbly well since then. The coaching staff allowed him and David Ash to split time during their clash versus Iowa State. McCoy completed about 58.3% of his passing for 110 yards and Ash completed the same passing rate for 145 yards with two TDs.
On the ground, Malcolm Brown has done most of the work by rushing 327 yards and a score. Also contributing to the team are Foswhitt Whittaker and Cody Johnson with each delivering four rushing touchdowns. In receptions, Jaxon Shipley is the team’s leader.
