Texas at Texas Tech Football Picks & Betting Odds

The Longhorns face their fourth straight undefeated team in Texas Tech. Texas has their sites set on a national title and seemed more focused and poised than any other team in the country and it starts with quarterback Colt McCoy. The college football odds are currently showing Texas as a 3.5-point favorite with a high total set of 74.

Texas Tech does enter this game undefeated, but have not faced a ranked opponent this year. Kansas was ranked in this week’s game, but has since dropped out of the rankings. This is by far their toughest task on the year.

Colt McCoy is easily the frontrunner for the Hesiman trophy. McCoy has thrown 21 touchdowns and is completing nearly 82% of his passes. Not to mention he leads the team in rushing yards and has recorded seven rushing touchdowns. McCoy has dominated Texas Tech in recent years. He is 2-0 against the Red Raiders and is averaging 262 passing yards per game and has scored 10 total touchdowns in the previous meetings. McCoy’s top target this year has been his roommate, Jordan Shipley. Shipley is averaging 12.7 yards per catch and has scored 10 touchdowns. He has also been a force in the returning game and he has returned one kick for a touchdown. Look for McCoy and Shipley to have huge games against this Texas Tech defense.

Texas Tech has been able to put up a ton of points this year, but they have yet to face a legitimate defense, which Texas has. The Longhorns are giving up just 18.3 points per game on the season and have faced some of the nation’s most high scoring offenses in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Oklahoma State. Look for Texas to be able to hold this high potent offense in check.
