Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills Line

Written by Jimmy Boyd on November 28, 2011

The Buffalo Bills (5-6) will be looking to end a four-game skid when they host the Tennessee Titans (6-5) Sunday.

Odds makers are predicting a tight contest.

The Bills are currently listed as a one-point favorite with the total set at 43.5.

Last week, Buffalo fell below .500 for the first time this season with a 28-24 road loss to the New York Jets.

Ryan Fitzpatrick played one of his best games of the season, completing 26 of 39 passes for 264 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions, but it wasn’t enough.

Four of those completions, including one of the touchdown tosses, went to Brad Smith, who led the team with 77 receiving yards.

C.J. Spiller led the way on the ground with 55 yards on 19 carries.

The Titans outscored the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13-0 in the fourth quarter to earn a 23-17 home win last week.

Matt Hasselbeck connected on 19 of 34 passes for 160 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

Lavelle Hawkins led the team in receiving with five catches for 51 yards.

The big story was Chris Johnson, who silenced his growing list of doubters with a 190-yard performance on the ground. He could be poised for another big game this week against a Buffalo defense currently ranked 22nd in the league with 123.8 rushing yards allowed per contest.

The Bills have allowed an average of 130.5 rushing yards during their losing streak.

The Titans are 4-0 this season when rushing for over 90 yards. However, reaching that mark is no given. They enter Week 13 ranked 30th in the league with 88.6 rushing yards per game.

Stopping the run has also been an issue for the Titans, who currently rank 22nd in the NFL with 124.1 rushing yards allowed per game. Tennessee’s defense could be tested by a Buffalo offense currently ranked eighth in the league with 122 yards per contest.

However, Buffalo’s running attack has struggled during its four-game slide, averaging just 89.5 yards per game. The Bills have only averaged 63.5 rushing yards the last two weeks after starting running back Fred Jackson fractured his right fibula in a 35-8 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 11.

The Titans have won the last three in this series with the most recent being a 41-17 victory at home on Nov. 15, 2009. Prior to that game, the previous three meetings had been decided by three points or less.

The Titans have covered the spread in each of the last two meetings, and they have been the better investment in recent weeks as well. They are 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five games while the Bills are 1-3 against the number in their last four.

In regard to the total, the under just might be the play. The Bills are 6-0 under in home games in the second half of the season under coach Chan Gailey.

The Titans have played to the under in three straight.
