Tough College Football Schedules in 2008
There is usually a general trend that many inexperienced sports bettors follow each and every year. They get excited about a team just based purely on their roster or some returning players, but they do not focus on one of the main aspects in college football which is a team’s schedule. A tough schedule can make all the difference between a sensational year, or a bad one. An easy schedule can make a very average team look great and this can be costly when the bowl game comes around. However, a tough schedule can make a pretty good team look like it is not that great and has problems when it can’t really catch a break. Do not fall into this trap again this season as many people do. I’m here to help you out by taking a look at some teams who I feel will have hard schedules and may not do all that hot this year. With the right analysis of a teams schedule you can make a lot of profit. Let’s take a look at some of the teams in college football who will have tough schedules in the upcoming season 2008:
West Virginia Mountaineers – Last year West Virginia had a very solid and well coached team. This season they will be very similar and they are returning many key players. They are a team that has the potential to do some damage in the Big East, but they have a very tough schedule. The Mountaineers are a team that finished 11-2 in the 2007 season and were 5-2 in the Big East. They will be led by two time Big East Offensive Player of the Year, quarterback Pat White. He enters the 2008 season as a Heisman candidate and all eyes will be on him. West Virginia opens up the season with what may very well be one of their toughest games. They will play the number 1 ranked USC Trojans at home. Later, they will have to travel and play Connecticut on the road and will finish the season with a trip to Virginia Tech. This is a team that may be good but have a tough schedule with some unavoidable losses.
Arizona State Sun Devils – Many people have picked Arizona State to go to the BSC National Championship game coming into the new season. They have a great coach in Dennis Erickson but I still don’t think they will have what it takes. They have a couple of big problems with their schedule. I think that Arizona State has the toughest schedule in the entire league. Arizona State will return starting quarterback Rudy Carpenter and he could have a break out season if the offensive line can get better and give him more time in the pocket. Also returning at receiver are Chris McGaha, Michael Jones and Kyle Williams which means Arizona State will be solid at these positions. The Sun Devils will host Georgia on September 20th and will follow that up with consecutive road trips to both Cal and USC. The bright side for them is that if they can survive these games then they will have proved themselves as a legitimate contender and it will only get easier for Arizona State from there.
